Action Camera for Bike - Recommendations?

Hi All,

I am planning on getting a camera for my bicycle, purely to film in case an accident occurs but have never had any experience with these. I don't need perfect by any means, and I won't be keeping the film (it will be on loop) so doesn't have to be a GoPro or anything like that.. I saw good guys had the following one which would work nicely with the $25 voucher. Does anyone have any recommendations? Or had this model?

Bit hesitant to purchase from OS as I'd prefer the local warranty in case anything went wrong.

Thanks in advance,
J

Will affect your drag coefficiency. That little faster you could have gone could have saved you from an accident

LOL, the coefficiency drag, would mean they wouldn't come off as hard, and a 50% chance they missed the accident (late to scene), which they could now record and sell!! 😀

Have a look at this one: Shimano CM-1000 at ProBikeKit

    Edit: Sold out

  • Duct Tape a Sony HandyCam to your head.

Do you want the camera facing forwards or backwards? Forwards for someone that doors you or merges across your lane into you or backwards for the car/truck/bus you don't even see that cleans you up from behind. For the behind option there is a couple of people selling Fly 6 rear light/camera combos's on the Facebook bike sell/swap groups for around the $100 mark.

I bought the PBK Shimano camera from the deal on here a couple of weeks ago, good deal for around $100 but the under-saddle rear facing mount cost me an extra $50

If you want a good one get a Fly6 for the rear or a Fly12 for the front, oth include lights as well and are specifically designed for use as an incident recorder for cycling. If you want to save money, find the cheapest one you can.

I use a GoPro and it is OK, but really designed for action recording, rather than an incident camera so the loop function isn't user friendly and the battery life isn't great. There are however, heaps of mounts and accessories available to suit.
