Here we go again. Move on if it is a thing of past for you. Comment if you have any experience or want to share something.
Ok true, but in case you missed it, it was simply another way of saying "wow I didn' know people still used these services" . You're not the self appointed fun police. Your comment can very well be applied to what your said as well.
I didnt miss it. There is always 1 or 2 people saying exactly the same thing. All deals posted here are not for everyone. For few it will be good and few will hate it.
Waiting for yet another email for "3 Free Movie Rentals"
Got 3 Movies at my local kiosk, Code gives $10 Credit my local kiosk charges $3 per DVD.($2 on Tuesdays)
I wonder how sustainable this is - sure they have lower overheads being a vending machine, but I see free movie deals every week.
the contract for supporting those machines isn't worth the paper it's written on either ;-)
It don't cost much to rent an area that can't fit a shop in a mall and pay a monkey to drop off disks every few weeks or whatever.
well it is about to become more expensive feeding the monkey
Talk about one-upmanship!
Are these DVD's or Blu Ray's?
Both but probably more DVDs. At least someone makes a relevant question rather than the same old comments that are pointless. If people don't like video ezy why make useless comments?
Some have to find a way to feel good.
Thanks. Will give it a try :)
Each machine has both (or at least, mine does).
I rented Captain America - Civil War and Zootopia blu-rays for zero dollars. Pretty happy.
video ezy still exists?
I think their business model relies on late returns. There's not enough demand for the store/kiosk DVD/Blu-ray rental market now with so many online options for instant streaming on demand. So while a rental may be free at the point of sale, there'll be some who return after the next day cut off time and get charged, thus allowing the franchisee to make a return, even if it is only small.
Fine, show me where I can instant stream on demand a 1080p copy of "Captain America : Civil War" at a reasonable price.
Sure as hell isn't Netflix, Presto, etc. Google Play has it, but for $5.99, and I'm not even sure that's HD.
You are right that they could deliver a 1080p version at $2 - but the problem is they don't.
Some of us still need "the old fashioned way" when streaming isn't an option (useless internet connection through old exchanges).
Roonet.

Nah, there are plenty of computer-illiterates, senior citizens, and people with crappy internet. The last video rental place in my suburb only closed down a few months ago, and there are still a few open within a short drive of here (Western Sydney).
Plus, if you have a real home theatre setup, with a big screen and a strong surround sound system, blu-ray still beats almost everything else (even 4K netflix - comparisons show that the 4K netflix picture can be slightly better in some aspects, slighty worse in others… IF you have a good NBN connection. But the sound is definitely worse than blu-ray).
Plus, the kiosk price is around $4 for a blu-ray, which is often better than the cheapest HD online rental by about $2. If you have to stop by the shop where the kiosk is anyway, the convenience of streaming won't mean much.
I totally agree as I'm on of those people who enjoys their home theatre set-up. I always look out for these rental deals for that reason. I also have gripes with Foxtel and Netflix etc not offering true DTS-HD across their platforms. Netflix is probably better than Foxtel in this respect. None offer the same quality as Blu-ray IMO.
There's still those who rent from stores and kiosks which is great, that number however is just not nearly as great as it has been previously, like it was back in the days of VHS.
IMO, the advent of torrenting hurt the video rental business, followed by the rapid market offering of online and on demand steaming. There's just not enough people renting anymore for most stores to stay afloat. Some have managed to stick around for now.
yep, I hear you. I dont quite understand a market that simultaneously puts out 4k hardware at the same time as pushing content backwards from bluray quality.
rapid market offering
U wot?
@shteeve5150: Yeah here's the thing: the market is just a bunch of people desperately trying to get you to buy their products, often under the guise of various names that imply things that aren't true to catch out the unwary buyer.
where are these kiosk?
