3m - 5m Micro USB Charging Cable (for Nvidia Shield Tab) preferably brick and mortar NSW katoomba region

Looking for a newer longer cable for my nvidia shield tab for charging. Most ones I can find are only 1m to 2m. Preferably brick and mortar store for now as I still have my new credit card coming in the mail. Also if anybody knows where to get a good tablet table or wall mount so I can manoeuvre and watch my tablet without watching it in bed that would be great.

  • I can't comment on 5m from a brick and mortar store as I've never seen one in Melb. But I'll share with you some observations from the ones I've bought on online.

I previously bought a 5m cable from ebay ; turns on it was cheaper on aliexpress hence I bought 5 of them to mess around with.

I bought 2 of these as well:

I have a galaxy note 4 which came with a QC2.0 charger. It charges perfectly fine using the white cable (I'll test it with the 90-degree one later), I haven't observed the speed before/after, but even in use it will easily fast charge.

HOWEVER, Others in the family have noted that the white and 90-degree cable charges slower using their typical what I assume is a 2A charger. Not even enough to charge the phone when in use. I recall Ampere showing much less current going through.

The Voxlink cable definitely performs better than the white cable and the 90 degree connector one as it seems to at least allow ~600mA through.

Best to look for a thicker wire gauge, looking at other listings VoxLink were advertised as 21AWG for charging lines.

I will edit my post / try to follow up with screenshots later after doing a couple more tests.

  • You could check the shield tablet accessories forum on xda-developers and even ask the same question there.

  • I'd get a Power bank instead.

    • Any good current recommendations?
