Hi, I'm planning to travel to the US from 10 Jan 2017 to 7 Feb and I'm trying to decide whether to buy tickets now or whether I should wait for a good deal?
I found flights with Air China for $1600 and I'm not sure whether it's better just getting those now or hopefully waiting for something better.
Return Flights from Melbourne to New York in January - Buy Now Or Wait ?

I'd most definitely look at a flight to LAX from Melb via NZ or Fiji (or even the occasional great deal on a direct flight), then book a domestic leg from LAX to NYC
$1254 on China Southern if you fly on 11th Jan or $1183 on the 13th and I wouldn't think it's worth waiting too much longer if you can get it under $1200.

I usually book 2 months prior. I think you still have time. There's been occasional deals from iwtf via AA. By flying through China, you're making a long flight even longer…
