Still a bit worry with the bootloop issue to buy it.

    • After six months, there doesn't seem to be any endemic hardware failure. Sure you'll get a few bootloops, all phones do, but most seem to be when people are trying to root and stuff it up.

      • +16

        I dont think so.
I waa at a busy mobile repairer and according to them they are getting lot of call from G3 to G5 owners.
My G4 had the issue.I never tried anything advanced and bootloop came up out of blue.
With grey imports you are at the mercy of the seller.
I believe LG is arrogant not to fix it after 3 model updates.
For this reason I am negging this dael so that people notice.
        Soory OP

        • +3

Same with me. Bought G4 from this same seller last year. Was working fine until last month when it got the bootloop out of the blue for no reason. Wasn't rooted. Now waiting for QD to get back to me about sending it in for repairs. they've even said many have got this bootloop issue recently. Do not get this phone.

        • +5

Yup. I concur. Dead G3 sent back to Yantango, never to be seen again when they went under. Dead G4 sent back to eGlobal, 4+ month saga, more painful and less productive than chewing my foot off. LG just wash their hands. Yes I understand grey imports, at the end of the day though, they're making em so their brand has to wear the rep.

        • @nzcoops:
Why dont you use your votes so that more people will notice rather than jumping to the deal.
And you are giving positive. Can't believe

        • @Orpheus:
See the comments below before sending it back

        • +6

My current situation with QD_AU Warranty regarding the G4:
Phone bootlooped (Still under warranty), contacted QD, wait 2-3 days for response after every respsonse email, sent phone in for repair, wait over a month to receive the phone back, use phone for not even 5 mins and starts bootlooping again… To this day I am still trading emails back and forth with QD to resolve my issue. This is unacceptable as this has been going on for 3+ months now and still no resolve as of yet. BUYERS BEWARE

        • @iacka:

If its been that long contact dept. of consumer affairs, they made a computer retailer refund a graphics card that they were taking ages to repair

        • Ahhh yes - my bootloop started last night. :-(

About a fortnight inside the 1-year warranty. :-)

Still waiting for Quality Deals to respond to my ebay query. Anyone have any contact details for them in case I don't hear back? :-|

        • +2

@sachy: If I'm honest, I negged it. Then I thought, "Meh, I still love LG's phones despite the issues (was originally concurring to the 'LG arrogance' sentiment), and I haven't shopped from 'Quality deals' so can't justify negging THEM". But I couldn't remove the neg! Only replace it with a +! And I can't remove the + either! I've no idea how I'm going to sleep tonight.

        • +2

@murraywoo: Just message them on eBay from your purchase listing (it'll be archived). They take a day of 2 to reply. My warranty claim took 6 weeks door-door. I think people are being particularly harsh to QS_au over this LG issue. They had hundreds of phones returned to them with hardware issues that they had to return to Taiwan for repair. I don't begrudge them at all.

        • +2

          @Todes Angst:
Absolutely agree with this comment. People are directing their frustration and anger at the wrong company, qd_au is not at fault for the bootloops. If you're going to be mad, and rightly so, you should be mad at LG who did not do a recall of a known hardware fault. I will not be purchasing this lg g5 only because of reports of bootlooping. I have personally sent in my LG G4 qd_au last week and was lucky to be in the warranty period (3 weeks remaining). I strongly believe if your phone is outside of warranty, they won't help.

        • @murraywoo:

          G5? model

        • @OhMaJuck: No - G4, bought as part of the deals available at the end of September 2015.

        • @iacka:

I had reboot issue with my G4 from qd_au, however i was satisfied with their service in having it repaired. Sure i had to pay for postage back to them, i had no phone for over a month, but they kept me updated, true to their word, and gave me a free battery for waiting. I think that is pretty good for a company selling grey imports. They have won my trust so will risk getting a g5 through them as probably much better shot at getting a repair then any other grey seller.

        • @Orpheus:

Same with my G4 bought from QD last year. Last month it got stuck on the LG boot screen and now doesn't show anything on the screen.

        • @CheapRichGuy: that's the infamous bootloop issue. Find your order in your eBay history, use the contact seller button next to it, let qd know you'll need it repaired under warranty, and sit back for a month or more.

        • @murraywoo: I had the same issue :(. Also one month within warranty period.

They asked me to ship it to NSW and they will repair it, could take up to two months…

        • @bluntman:
Kogan have been offering refund or replacement for bootlooped G4.

Expect same to happen on repaired phone too

  • +2

Here's a good review from someone who used the phone in the real world to help you decide - http://ausdroid.net/2016/09/11/lg-g5-revisited-almost-six-mo…

  • +2

OMFG This price is such a killer! Around this time last year G4 was around $460 with 20% off! Can't wait for the price to drop even lower! :D

  • +3

Boot loop is way overblown. G5 is really good mobile. Camera is super good. I am waiting for V20, will buy it after 4 to 5 months of launch.

    • +1

I went from G3 to G4 to V10 - The v10 is great, a few little quirks, but the battery life is horrid - thankfully the removable battery helps. think the v20 will be great improvement with the more efficient processor, and the added feature of the wide angle shot that the g5 has

    • +6

Until you have the issue it is someone`s issue. overblown, rooting issue.incorrect usage etc
      Typical human behaviour

      • No, The G4 did have genuine bootloop issues.

People are just trying to taint every phone that LG make with that Same brush just because they are mad.

All phones are going to have some failures I've had 3 Z3 compacts all fail and all fail in different ways, doesn't mean all Sony phones are crap. There is no evidence to suggest G5's are failing in mass proportions.

        • +2

I think most of those people are mad not just because the bootloop, but it is the fact that LG did not (and still does not) honor the repair after hesitantly admitting to the bootloop issue. A lot of customers had a hard time returning the phone for repair, and the out of warranty phones did not get honored to fix this bootloop issue.

If they had suck it up and willing to recall or fix all bootloop G4 phones, may be it will fill people with confidence and people will consider buying LG again.

  • +1

$452 for a current gen flagship? Awesome deal.

    • +18

There is a reason why they are having to discount them so aggressively, and that's because most G3 and G4 owners will never touch LG again.

    • -1

It's because the LG V20 is coming out very soon.

  • +6

Can you really trust LG after all the G4 Woes..

  • +13

Conflicted deal: nice hardware, but untrustworthy manufacturer.
I also feel I cannot trust LG after the G4 experience, and my G4 (a 603 H815) actually still works.
It is a wonderful phone, but relying on it to me is like jumping into a car that needs a new timing belt, and hoping it will make it from Sydney to Perth.
You just dont know, and if it fails, you will be in a mess.
Its the knowledge that the bug is in the hardware.
What troubles me, is that LG know this, and they are betting that the majority of failures will occur outside of warranty, be able to blame it on rooting or a cracked screen, whilst they high five their accountants on another job well done.

    • +1

Yeah I was going to jump on the G5, but after hearing about it that extended as far back as G3- it was a no go for me.

They should've taken a page out of Samsung and recalled it fully.

  • -1

the G5 is, besides the excellent SD820, mostly gimped compare to previous generations in many areas

  • +2

First time commenting. Great deal! Snapped one up. Thanks OP :)

    • have you received it yet?

  • +5

If something happened with you phone forget about warranty. I had a bootloop issue with my LG G4 that I purchased via Quality-deals.com.au. After few months my LG G4 start malfunctioned and it was during warranty period. I sent it to Quality Deals.
After few months of calls lot of emails discussion with manager they agreed to send my phone back. I was shocked when they didn't repaired my phone using excuse "water damage!!!!" without any proof also they want me to pay for sent my phone to me back.
So I received my phone after 3 months. It was totally brick.
Go to their facebook page and see how many people on the same boat.

    • +4

Exactly. Garbage product with bootloop issue (happened to me) with no customer support. Wouldn't touch another LG G whatever with a 10 foot barge pole

      • bad customer service , they dont reply that quick its not just LG .
i got lg g4 from ebay sales sep15 ,sent them message on 25 july got reply on 23august, shipped around 25th august got reply two days ago

        Hi

We just received your parcel last week and it's on the way to LG Taiwan now for service. Once the repair was done, we will definitely contact you right away.

        Regards

        still waiting

        • You were lucky, cause QD-AU state that they MUST receive phone back to them within the 12 month warranty period.
I got notification from au post tracking that the parcel was rejected from them and sent back.
It only just made it back in time….though I don't expect it to last after repair either.

        • @albanyson: LG provide a 2 year warranty on the G4. QD should really honour that.

  • H860 only has 4g/2g dual sim capability right? Whirlpool lists that the H860N has 4g/3g.

    • Bit of confusion on this. Not convinced by the evidence on whirlpool, and a lot of users on xda says it's only 4g/2g

  • +9

Sorry but I'm feeling I have to neg this deal. Sorry op. Nothing against you but I would like people to be aware about Quality Deal warranty that doesn't exist.

    • +5

Not saying any of what you're saying isn't true, but my G4 stopped working a while ago, worse than bootloop. I sent it back to QD and 4 weeks later I got it back working fine. It's still working now, although my sister uses it now.

They have to send it to LG just like any other business with manufacturers warranty which in turn would cause the process to be a bit longer. I expected it to take the 4 weeks and didn't contact them until week 3. To which they said it was due to arrive from LG that day and they would forward it onto me.

All in all for me it was a fine experience with them.

  • +1

But Kogan was superb in giving me a new replacement.I was without the phone for 3 weeks.
Again as the comnent above not sure when this G4 is going go to belly up

    • Kogan were great with my 3 times G4 failures. Wouldn't but an LG from overseas seller like QD. Kogan have Australian freepost address for returns and handle it quite quick.

    • Wish I'd bought from Kogan. Positive reviews of offering refund or replacement.
Having to buy another expensive phone in the interim, (expecting minimum 2 months though 3 for return is not uncommon and have been told exect long delays)and no guarantee bootloop doesn't happen again after repair, I would have gladly accepted a refund or replacement immediately…..
Kogan seem to be handling much better than QD-AU and yet LG still failed miserably with thier handling of the bootloop.

  • +1

I went from the disappointing and featureless S6 to the LG G4. I loved the camera and the quality LED light, camera capabilities (RAW shoot), FM radio, and IR were all all important for me that were a MUST for a modern day phone. Samsung couldn't compete and so…I switched.

I'm very happy with it, except now, a year later after a FEW too many root/sys flashes. Yes, it still works perfectly fine, except the camera app, no matter what I do (even after plenty of help over at XDA hasn't solved this), i still can't get rid off this horrible over-exposure from the flash on 50% pf 1 side of the image EVERY TIME the flash is active! It's painful, but at least there's a work around (unless you are all about night photography). The only flaw for me in the lack of band suitability outside of foreign countries like the USE - it has LTE bands but no 4GX 700Mz B28 in Australia….So, not quite as fast as it can be for Telstra users.

The G5 looks great, but it wasn't enough of an upgrade to jump to a phone less than 12 months later. So, what I'd say to all folks considering a change to the LG G5 is either (a) Wait; if hyou aren't modding the V20 looks a lot better if comparing features, exapndable memory, removable battery, amazing camera, goos screen, etc… Or if you're getting it and plan to modify/root, then i'd say (b) don't bother with LG. Why? Because the support/hacking community for LG phones and devices is almost non-existent. There's not enough clever or 'bothered' people to do what the likes of chainfire has done for Samsung. Android users should really be able to take full advantage of their phones features inside and out (as owners)…and until LG released unlock bootloaders for their devices, I'm on the look out for my next phone and it's not Apple, Samsung or LG at this stage…

I have to share my experience on my g4 purchase with them. I had the same issue with everyone else, bootloop, I repeatedly contact them about the issue and 1 month later gets a reply from them to be sent back and repaired. Took another 1 month and a half and they sent the phone back to me, now seem to work fine for the past 3 months.

    • +1

KOGAN sent a brand new replacement even an additional power adapter.

      • A non-OEM power adapter which could've been made anywhere and of dubious quality

  • Good price, but a gamble with LG.

  • I bought this phone 3 weeks ago for $50 more. The fingerprint scanner works well but it has lag when it has registered that it is my fingerprint. The battery life is average. The LG G4 was better for battery in my opinion but it did have a larger capacity.

The camera is great, especially the wide angle part.

Overall, the LG G4 was better and seemed faster in my opinion. I have factory reset the phone as well.

  • This is a good price for SD 820 phones with a replaceable battery. The phone is actually cheaper than import OnePlus 3 and nearly cheap as Xiaomi Mi4. Crazy.

  • +4

    Do not buy LG.
    Avoid QD_AU

If something goes wrong within warranty period you are unlikely to get it fixed. Buy at own risk. LG has been flakey.

  • +9

Does this deal come with free bootloop?

    • Not sure why you got negged. Your comment was pretty funny I thought, so I gave you a positive to get you back to break-even

      • LOL must've been fanboy love. Thank you for restoring balance to the universe kind sir.

  • +1

As an actual g5 owner and not a bitter g4 owner, I can say this phone is excellent. Amazing camera and quick day to day usage. Battery is average but the quick charge and removable battery make up for this. At this price it's a steal

    • +1

finally see some comments on G5 but not like the others commenting on G4. We all already knew how bad the G4 was but this deal is about G5. I do think this is a pretty good deal for this price. I don't know about QD and i am not going to get this deal anyway as I am waiting to buy V20 later when the price drops a bit few months later.
PS: i am still using LG G pro 2, that my wife used previously and it still working great. She got a iphone 6s plus and gave this phone to me. & now she is getting the iphone 7 plus lol

    • +5

There's nothing wrong with the G4 itself. It's fast, great camera, great screen and priced competitively. It's just that it also has a good chance of getting an error that renders the phone completely useless. That's kind of a big deal. It's a very valid reason to not get this phone as the G5 is also known to have this issue. I guarantee you most OzBargainers would not want to gamble with a $450 phone. My advice is to stay far away from this product.

      • +3

agree. some gambles might be worth it, like if you were buying from somewhere with great after sales service and warranty procedures. But QD_au have taken on average 1 week to reply to each email I send, which meant it took 4 weeks to even get to the point where they agreed to take my bootlooped G4 back for repair. Another 4 weeks for QD to get it back from LG repairer is understandable, the LG repair shop must be flooded with G4s. But then QD said they had it back 5 days ago and asked for my address, I replied within 2 minutes. But no update since. No reply, no tracking number, and still don't have the phone.

Tl;dr - if you're going to take a gamble with LG's dodgy quality assurance, gamble with a seller who's easy to deal with on warranty claims. Not QD.

  • +1

Share my exp with G5, 1st one boot loop in 2 weeks, got brand new replacement but the phone is corrupt, it restarting randomly, I am with the 3rd one now for over a month with no issues, (3rd time lucky I guess). I am with Telstra, no worries with warranty (and it's 2 years as well).

It's really good phone with very good camera…

  • +2

Not touching LG again after G3 bootloop. Occurred just after 1 year of owning. No one has a fix for it.

Now have nexus 6p, nice phone. I just need to install a tap to wake app. Always still find myself tapping the screen to wake :S

  • +2

LG: never again. Still waiting to get my bootlooping G4 back from qd_au after 25 days.

  • +1

Tempted, but wont buy it. I really wanted to get one of these as it seemed to be my only option for a good camera and a wide angle camera, but I just cant go with LG for reasons stated above.

  • +1

GIVE ME A DEAL ON THE V20 PLEASE! kthxbye

  • Paid $508.00 just the other day. Dang. I read up about the boot loop; and at the end of the day you do have a 1 year warranty to fall back on and this price for a flag ship? I don't mind if I need to use the warranty.

    • My G4 just died out of sudden on 16th Sept. I bought the phone on 27 Sept 2015 haha. Not sure how QD gonna deal with that regarding their slow response time!

      • I was reliably informed by QD-AU they MUST receive the phone in their hand before end of 12 month warranty……good luck, but I don't like your chances of a semi positive outcome at all.

        • i'm not going for that repair though. can't post it on time within 12 months warranty. Already signed up 56.5$/month with S7 Optus. I'll do repair of LG when I go back to my country. Cheap there.

        • @roonaqdai:
That Optus perks is a good deal.

  • Do any of these - G5 or V10 - use the same battery as the G4?

  • +1

I have been using G5 for over 2months, i cannot be happier and hopefully no bootloop in the future.

Still this price is very friendly~

    • I have had mine just Over 2 Months payed $629. I have 2 Spare battery's. Best smart phone I have ever had. All from QD

      • +2

I bought mine at $550 @ QD, bought the battery kit and its awesome! no need to carry power bank around with you

        • +1

OhMaJuck Great phone, without the Samsung Premium price tag. Quick Charge 3.0, Removable battery, Fingerprint Sensor, and Qualcomm 820 processors. and 4GB ram. What more could you Want.

        • @megod: That's promising except for the risk of random phone death carried over from the G3

  • +2

Concur with all the negative posts here, you don't know what you're getting into with grey imports and qd_au.
My experience was horrible, purchasing a G4, it had constant issues, the phone went back to Taiwan for repair and 6 weeks later still the same problem.
I was without my phone for that long and now am again without a phone because its gone back to qd_au.

I WOULD HAVE HAPPILY PAID x2 THE PRICE FOR LOCAL WARRANTY NOW IN HINDSIGHT!

    • +2

Totally agree. It took almost 12 weeks for my phone to leave me to get back in my hands, after I was quoted "2-5 weeks".

The only bonus is LG TWN gave me a spare LG G4 battery & charger. Better than carrying a battery pack around! :D

  • They still have gold and pink for $539 before 10% off.

  • +1

Do not buy this phone. LG never admitted the bootloop issue on their G4. Also QD is very slow getting it repaired. My one has been a month no news. G5 also does bootloop. Don't waste your time with LG and its shocking after sales service.

If you want to Gamble with LG and QD it will only last less than a year.

LG worst company for smartphone. Dare to say even Xiaomi has better quality

  • I have lost interest in LG.

I liked their innovation in the past. However I see most hardware problems in their phones recently.

G4 wifi/Bluetooth issue, boot looop issue
Seems G5 is also facing GPS issues due to wifi chip.

I think g4 and g5 motherboard is similar in design.

Good luck to everyone who saved money in his deal.

  • +1

    LG never again

  • reading this thread and I thought I was lucky to have my G4 from QD still working after almost a year… but thought I'd research about the problem.. then bam the next morning my g4 reboots and is stuck for ever at the boot screen.. talk about jinx..

  • How's the camera on the G5 compare to the G4?
Is the G4's camera still the best there is?
Also, it's half an inch smaller than the G4.
I'd rather go a bit bigger than a bit smaller tbh
Might wait and see if Xiaomi releases an international version of the Mi Max… or the ZTE Axon 7

  • It's funny that people have such an issue with LG because of the G4 bootloop issue. In 2008 I bought an LG Viewty which was a total piece of junk and vowed to never purchase another LG phone again. It took 8 years but I was finally vindicated haha.

  • Has Lg improved the build quality of the phone since the first few batches?

  • Any further confirmation this is 4G/3G phone?
