Best time to pay for Hotel in Hong Kong during early January?

Hey Ozb Community,

I am planning on going to Hong Kong with my girlfriend and we are looking at booking a hotel from Jan 1 to Jan 8. It might be wishful thinking but are their any recommendations to try and get cheap hotels?

    Stanford Hotel in Mongkok close to the mtr nice quiet clean rooms, have stayed there a few times over the years
