Hi all, I am looking for a new petrol lawn mower. The budget is up to $400. Any recommendations?
I liked the price of Rover oxley (within my budget, at Costco). Masters sell it for over $400. I don't know about the build quality of Rover.
I had a victa lawn mower purchased from big w many years ago and it did a fairly decent job, until it decided not to start any more. I did try to get it work by cleaning the spark plug etc but no success…

Yeah. The gap is still there and cleaned it thoroughly with a sand paper.
hard rubbish collection. i picked up 4 over the last month. 3 started (after checking sparkplug, checking airfilter and using start-ya-bastard) so I gave them a bloody good clean, fresh oil, sharpen blades, new catcher on one of them (also a hard rubbish find). sold them on gumtree for between $50 - $90 each. once cleaned up, 2 of them looked near new. the third had rust spots but was solid - an aussie made victa.
It used to be easy picking up stuff from hard waste when it was an annual event. Now that we need to book it to organise a collection, it is harder to find stuff
Battery is where it's at. No need to worry about fuel or oil, push a button to start, stops instantly when you release the handle to empty the catcher, much quieter than petrol. Pop the battery on to charge when done so you don't end up getting stuck short of power next time.
How long does it take to do your lawn? Mine is around 200m2 and I can do it one a 5ah battery unless it's super long.
Did you check the gap on the spark plug?
