Complete gaming setup <$1500

Hi Guys,

Would you be able to recommend a gaming setup <$1500.

Not after crazy high end gaming, just the normal Runescape and Minecraft.

Are the Pccasegear prebuild options the best to go? My only thing was then i have to buy the OS as well.

This is including Monitor, Keyboard etc as well.

I was thinking this

Thoughts?

  • I would recommend buying parts seperately and assembling it yourself. It's a very easy process with many guides on Youtube and other websites. Once you have done it once it's easy to do it again and it's a good skill to have if only to save money.

The "hard" part is deciding what to buy but you can start with some semi-famous guides about what a good PC is for the amount you want to spend which do most of the work for you such as Whirlpool's:

    http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/rmp_sg_whirlpoolpcs_gaming_conf…

Then you will need to decide on a monitor, mouse, case and keyboard.

A tip is to enter the parts into pcpartspicker and enter the parts into the PC planner so you can show people the PC parts list. This way peopel can recommend changes to your configuration. You can also make one thread at Whirlpool for your planned build as well to get comments/assistance.

Don't use PC Parts pickers prices as a guide though because MSY is usually a much better guide to what an overall system will cost (it will be much cheaper):

https://www.msy.com.au/Parts/PARTS.pdf (use control + F to find the part you want)

To be clear MSY is not always the cheapest but it's an easy way to determine about how much you'll pay at one place - when you actually buy the part by all means look everywhere for the best price: ebay, amazon, msy etc

Then after all the parts have arrived you can use a resource such as Tom's Hardware's guide to making a PC:

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/build-your-own-pc,2601.h… (this article goes from planning to assembling).

If you get stuck at any step search Youtube for what you are trying to do with your part, even use the same model number and someone might have the same part as you. But as i said, once you've done it once you'll be like "wow, that was easy" because it really is.

  • +1

Have you thought about building yourself?

    for $985
just leaves you to buy windows monitor and M/K and a 1tb HDD if you want more space then the 250gb ssd

btw this will outperform the one you linked easy.

an idea of the frames an rx 470 gives compared to the gtx 970 which is a faster card then the n960 in the build you linked.

  • You can just plagiarize and copy the builds that other people have done on Reddit and WP forums. $1500 is a 'common' budget for builders.

Also there is flash deal tonight at 10PM-11PM
GTX 1060 6GB Mini for $369 + postage at Shopping Express (normally $429)
