An Honest Mechanic Recommendation please - Sydney

My rego inspection is due and this is the tenth year of my car (bought brand new). Unfortunately, I can never trust mechanics but that is mostly due to me not being too cluey.

Along with the rego, I need to get my yearly service done too, so really I need a honest, trustworthy and experienced mechanic who knows what he is doing and does not rip me off. I'm not too knowledgeable with cars and hence I feel very helpless and dread these service and rego inspection times, and always feel ripped off.

Last year, I was told my brakes are worn out, wipers are gone, and engine filter is dirty, so the whole ordeal cost me $900. I'm assuming at least this year, all these things will not need to be spent on (major expense was brake pad replacement and machining).

I live in the western suburbs, and I have been to Kmart Tyre and Auto and wasn't satisfied (they just allocated a barely legal teen on my $900 job) . I have tried my car maker's own service centers a few times and they are very expensive.

If you guys can point me to the right direction, that would be awesome. If they are within a 15 km radius of Blacktown, that would be good.

Thanks and appreciate your help.

    What car do you own?
Not all mechanics are honest. Also not all of them are bad as well.
If I go to my mechanics since I trust him to do a good job because I know him ( been servicing there a few times now).
But you might not get the same level of service if you walkin to the same place for the first time. Also it would help if you knew some details about your car.

  • I can point you to truly honest/good mechanic. He is in CHIPPING NORTON.

This guy is amazing and I have to travel 30min to his workshop. I am not associated with him and trust me
