Saw this in the catalogue over lunch.
Starting today, HN has the S90 for $447, which is about what you'd be paying if you bought it from grey stock overseas. Pretty damn good price for Aussie stock with local warranty.
An even better deal if you get Officeworks to pricematch & beat it for an extra 5% off, ~$425. Then of course you can TRS it if going overseas.
From shopbot, the cheapest Australian S90 I can see is from Ryda for about $499. So quite a bit cheaper.

This looks like a decent competitor from Samsung (http://smarthouse.com.au/Digital_Photography/Still_Cameras/P…). Even faster then the LX3..dayams
Manufacturers are moving to non-DSLR interchangable lenses, its the way of the future.
Its a great camera but iam waiting for a good price for sony HX5V because of the 10X zoom and HD movie mode.
In USA both S90 and HX5V sell for a similar price (350$US).
Why can't it be the LX3? I'd buy it in a heartbeat if it was at that price.
Image quality is comparable, if not better.
Can focus macro shots at closer range (1cm vs 5cm).
Has 720P HD video recording.
Sure it's a little bit bigger than the s90. But I think the advantages far outweigh the only disadvantage I see.
Oh and I dig the retro look of the LX3. Some may not.
Anybody know where I can get an Australian stock LX3 for the same price/cheaper?
Good luck fitting an LX3 in your pocket - I've tried, it doesn't work.
Good camera, even better than their own G11 IMO.
Only thing letting it down for me is the 3.8x zoom and vga video recording. 5x and 720p would be perfect for me.

Isn't $447 a bit harsh for a camera with those specs? Sony HX5V is going for $530 and I think compare to this one's regular price ($500) it's a no brainer.
I know it's not a forum but while I'm at it what do you guys think of:
1- Buying from hongkong (particularly http://www.citiwideonline.com), they offer a door to door warranty and way more better price (HX5V for $408).
2- Finepix HS10, and going for a larger more featured pack point and shoot.

The S90 still takes slightly cleaner images then the HX5V. Both good cameras thats for sure.
My friend bought a canon 550D (T2i)DSLR with 18-55mm kit lens from a Hongkong seller on ebay brand new for 950$ and is very happy.
World needs more S90 and LX3 like cameras. If it weren't for the crap movie mode I'd be on my way to HN right now with the $447 in my pocket.
