  • HDMI cable up to it?

  • the HDMI cable with xbox one S is meant to be 2.0 I think???????

    Read through that?

This bit sounds like it might be the cause:

Make sure the console is automatically detecting your TV. Double-tap the Xbox button to open the guide and choose Settings > All settings. Select Display & sound > Advanced video settings and choose Auto-detect. 4K isn't available when HDMI or DVI is manually selected.

  • Is the connection method set to auto detect because according to the xbox support page if you manually set the input to HDMI it won't output in 4k

Yeah just saw that, strange coz most people would set it to HDMI!

    • Its AUTO. none of that helps. im going to take a picture and post here this is so bad. can i return Tv for a refund or new one? even though its like 1 year old. JB has 3 year warranty

    • Your TV doesn't support HDR, so you won't get that functionality.

You'll still get 4K (it shows that in the top line) but the rest is just stuff you only get with more expensive screens.

And no, you can't return it under warranty as there's nothing wrong with the TV

      • then why did it say it comes with HDR?

        • Where?

        • @Spackbace: it was on the JB website but its taken down now because they dont sell these anymore. wow im so disappointed

        • @shadowrukia:

It was a cheap tv but I don't believe it's ever been advertised as having HDR

        • @Spackbace: I paid 1500 for it.. im pissed paid so much thinking this could play 4K games what the… their manual is no help with anything. disappointed

        • @shadowrukia:

But it says they'll still upscale…

    • Already mentioned above

Based on that picture it seems like 4K should be working on the console, just only for specific things like the home screen and some apps. Have you tried to run content through Netflix or 4K blu-rays or so to see if that works?

      • Basically it only supports cramps fake 4k. Not a true experience

        • Cramps, yup.

  • Is this the TV? http://www.samsung.com/au/consumer/tv-audio-video/television… it advertises as 4K? is it not?

  • First thing I'd do is swap the HDMI cable for one that works.

  • I'm confused and scared.

I got a 4K TV and 4K netflix / youtube works but will 4K gaming work? do I need to have HDR? WHy don't I have HDR how do I get HDR. What is happening.

    • For gaming it depends on the console / system, but most should upscale anyway (Just less detail). 4K is short hand for number of pixels (amount of detail), whereas HDR is basically the variations of colors (more colors).

They are not necessarily tied together, its just HDR is a newer technology and therefore present on more 4K televisions and displays. One can work without the other, it all depends on what you have.

      Hope this helps

      • Ok thanks you have eased my concern. So I should be able to play 4K just I might not have as pretty pinks as someone with HDR.

    • check your settings thats what I had to do
