Which Travel Insurance Covers Checked in Baggages?

Does anyone know a travel insurance product that actually covers checked in baggages? My recent experience was not so good when I found out InsureAndGo does not cover my lost baggaged with Scootfly because it's a checked in baggage and mishandled with the airline.

  • I am surprised your previous insurer did not cover you. I had a quick scan through their PDS and cannot see any terms which would exclude check in baggage being covered. Did you challenge them on this? Surely this is one of the main reasons people buy travel insurance.

    • Agree with matt. Which policy did you buy from them?
According to their pds, section E1

SECTION E1 – PERSONAL BELONGINGS AND BAGGAGE
      What you are covered for
We will pay for items which accompanied you for your individual and personal use during your trip. We will pay up to the amount shown in the Table of benefits for items owned (not rented) by you which are lost, stolen or damaged during your trip.

And all three levels of policy cover certain amount of lost baggage

  • They sent me a PDF saying they don't cover checked in baggage. Only the carry on bags are insured and it has to be with you all time.

That seems ridiculous to me, if a travel insurance company rejected my claim for lost luggage I'd be writing to the ombudsman or something. Seems travel insurance 101 - cover my health and my belongings while I go to X country
