Giant Bomb Premium Membership Sale. 12 Months for US $29.99 (AU $39.23) for New Subscribers, US $35 (AU $45.77) for Renewals

160

Normally US$49.99 (AU$65.36) or US$4.95 (AU$6.47) per month.

Great gaming content, brought to you by some great personalities. Unlocks ad free browsing, better video quality and easy downloads, ad free podcasts, and heaps of premium exclusive videos and a handful of podcasts. Definitely my favourite source of cool gaming content, focused on fun and never taking things too seriously, or getting bogged down in the minutiae of gaming industry news. Definitely worth it for mine. Sale runs for two weeks, so plenty of time to decide.

Note the store discount normally included in the price doesn't come with sale memberships.

People pay for this? Lel …

    • You don't think people should pay to support a site they enjoy, ad-free experience, and unlock more content?

      • -4

Have you ever tried Adblock? You don't have to pay for it.

        • +1

Let's ignore the ethics of Adblock for a second, how does it help me gain access to exclusive video or the premium podcasts?

        • -5

@Strand0410: Hahahaha what ethics? Who wants ads and popups plastering the websites they browse that at times have outright viruses and spyware in them?

        • +2

@Mr Lister: the other user says "ignore the ethics of adblock for a second". So you do the exact opposite. Try it again. What does the ad removal have to do with unlocking the significant bonus content?

        • -3

@thescarecrow84: He was the one who brought it up and deliberately incited an ethical quandary. At no point did I bring up any ethical implications (because there are none). As for bonus content that is entirely up to you. I don't particularly care about Giant Bomb but if you want to pay for it go for it.

        • +1

Mr Lister has zero idea on how both Giantbomb and Adblock works. Just ignore him.

        • +2

@Mr Lister: Yeah, no, that's utter horse shit. Enjoy continuing to act like a (profanity) if you have to, just stop doing it on my post pls.

        • +2

@Mr Lister: Do you think everyone writing online does it pro bono? Exactly how do you think websites are monetised? I'm curious about your thought process as to where you think the money comes from. Newsflash: it's online adverts, whether it's banners, videos, or user data used to target future adverts. Giant Bomb provides plenty of free content, with the option of accessing more via subscription, the same paywall model used by many online newspapers. So explain which part of this you take umbrage with.

        • -1

@Strand0410: I take umbrage with intrusive ads plastering the walls of websites. I take umbrage with having to watch a fifteen second ad on some worthless Youtube video that some literally who decided to monotise . I take umbrage with spyware and malware disguised as ads infecting my computer. Also you do realise that probably the most common form of online advertising (Pay-per-click) is entirely dependant on whether or not someone actually clicks on the ads, something a person using AdBlock is extremely unlikely to do anyway? Oh no, but I totally am going to click the giant pair of tits to play Evony Online! Get off your high horse and stop acting as if corporations need defending. Like I said if you want to pay for this subscription then go ahead but don't sit here and tell me that using a tool I use not only to block annoying ads but as an additional line of defence against spyware and malware is unethical.

        • -1

@Mr Lister: Ads pay for shit, including Ozbargain, so by not white-listing those sites you wish to support (pay per click is not the only means of generating ad revenue), you're effectively saying that you wish to continue browsing or watching YouTube videos for free, but only want ads exposed to other users while you get a free ride. Do you also complain at every TV ad break?

Secondly, a GB premium membership gets rid of exactly what you're belly-aching about. No ads in video or audio content, no site banners. They're offering an alternate means of supporting the site, but you want to continue using without looking at ads and nor do you want to pay. Very noble. So mature. Not entitled.

    • What the (profanity) is wrong with paying for content that a person enjoys? Useless comment.

      • -4

The point is this is ozbargain not oz_letspayforanothersubscription. If this is free, sure it's a deal. Almost 4 bucks a month when there are dozens of legit game sites and YouTube video channels dedicated to games? No deal.

        • Lol, you're not very bright are ya? This is a good membership to a renowned and much loved website, on sale for a significant discount, therefore it belongs here. Not interested? Good for you. You don't need to be a cock about it. Just move on.

    WHAT ABOUT CRUNCHYROLL

    • +2

THERE WILL BE NO ANIME TALK ON THIS PODCAST

      • BUT…BUT…MY WAIFUUUUUUUU!

  • Hey, another GB fan! Think of your sub as paying for a new West-coast hire and helping Dan to move to the Beastcast. I'm already subbed until Jan 2019, so will skip this sale.

    What a season.

    • it is a sad loss for GBW but it should brighten up the otherwise cynical (moreso) GBE

      • I didn't think he was moving there permanently, just for 4 weeks

        • Permanent, announced a few days ago now.

The Shenmue enduro run is already pretty good stuff, so we should get more of that, as well as the final few Mario Party Party's before he moves. Couple awesome few weeks coming up, content wise!

        • @LaTerrible:

Nice, so it's worth paying for the Premuium sub in your opinion? What do you like best about it compared to their free content?

        • +2

@rysith: I've been a premium member for so long now I can barely tell the difference (aside from the horrible ads that pop up when you visit the page not logged in, haha). I think the Unprofessional Friday series content is worth the sub alone, though really I pay the sub just to thank them for the free content that is put out (I mean, Vinny's KERBAL series is among the very, very best content there is, and it was totally free). Oh and ad-free podcasts, too, they're nice.

That said, I'll nick the details for some of what's available from the NeoGAF OT:

          Free Video Series:

          • Quick Look - The guys jump into a new release and give it a whirl for about 40 minutes or so. Unedited, no bullshit - your Giant Bomb meat 'n' potatoes.
          • Unfinished - Basically Quick Looks of unreleased games. It can be games in Early Access, or other forms of pre-release builds of games.
          • Ranking of Fighters - Jeff and Jason play different fighting games and rank them in a VERY SCIENTIFIC WAY. Right now Samurai Shodown 2 is the best fighting game of all time. This show is part of the rotating schedule of live shows every Wednesday.
          • The Old Games Show - Jeff, Brad and other staff members play old games and talk about them. This show is part of the rotating schedule of live shows every Wednesday.
          • Encyclopedia Bombastica - Quick Looks for older games, basically. Generally comes with more of an "in the know" feel.
          • Giant Bomb Mailbag - The crew opens mailbags from the community. Don't just send them your trash, put some effort into it!
          • Choose Our Own Adventure - The GBEast team opens up their livestream to a popular vote. If the game is good enough, maybe it will graduate to a GBE Playdate and the premium paywall.
          • Kerbal: Project B.E.A.S.T - Vinny is going to land a Kerbal on the mun, even if that Kerbal has to climb a tower of corpses to do so.
          • Best of Giant Bomb - TurboMan/xpantherx brings his fantastic "Best Of" Giant Bomb videos to the site that inspires them.
          • Game Tapes Raw - A massive archival project to save old video game press footage in high quality format. A free addendum to the premium Game Tapes series.
          • Matthew Rorie Streams WoW - Not an official Giant Bomb series, Rorie has been streaming a World of Warcraft retrospective on his YouTube channel.
          Premium Video Series:
          • Unprofessional Friday - Premium member exclusive show. Just 2 hours of whatever nonsense the crew feel like showing off. Giant Bomb at its most chaotic.
          • Demo Derby - Dan, Drew and Jeff look at old Demo Discs across multiple platforms in this feature. Some times we get to see demos of good old classic games and other times we get to see demos of the worst games ever made.
          • Metal Gear Scanlon - Drew is on a mission to play through all numbered MGS games as he has never played them before. Local MGS nut Dan Ryckert tries to help/troll Drew throughout the playthrough.
          • VinnyVania - Vinny is playing through every console 2D Castlevania game, and maybe some more?
          • Breaking Brad - Brad plays particularly difficult games and challenges in games. Will he conquer it, or will it break him?
          • GBE Playdate - Vinny, Alex and Austin play 2-ish hours of a game, either as a one-off thing or as a series for one particular game.
          • Mario Party Party - The Gang play 50 (profanity) turns of every single numbered Mario Party game. NOBODY WINS.
          • Jar Time - Jeff answers questions from the community into a microphone.
          • Unplugged - The gang plays various DnD games, and Avalon.
          • Game Tapes - The GB Prime team watch old footage and comment over it. Sort of like E3, but all historical like.
        • @LaTerrible: thanks for insight. Almost made me consider buying the sub.

  • My favourite gaming website. It's just finding the time to watch all of their content that's the problem. Which is obviously not a bad thing. Love these guys.
