Hahaha wow exactly at 5:00pm Monday to the second! I wonder if Woolies would get mad if you posted at 4:59pm

  • Oh goodies, just in time for the warmer weather.

    • Ice cream can only be consumed in warmer seasons?

      • Well, I prefer it during the warmer weather.
I'm sure it's still edible any other time though.

  • +1

And I was two minutes to slow…

    • +3

And you spelt too wrong to

      • +1

        too, as in two too.

      • +4

        He wasn't the only one.

        • +2

i see what you did there ;)

      • Making me intellectually slow

  • Coles had this sale a few weeks ago.

At least in my local area - Coles stocks the new 'American' flavours (Green Tea, Peanut Butter Pretzel, etc) while Woolies had the complete range of the classics (Choc Obsession, White Choc Raspberry).

So a good chance to stock up on what was unavailable at Coles!

    • +2

      Peanut Pretzel 1/10

      • +2

I was initially disappointed by Peanut Butter Pretzel but committed to finishing the tub and I gotta say it grew on me quickly. That said I paired it with at least a scoop of Choc Obsession for some variety in flavour though.

        • +1

forgot to add, the 'Golden Syrup with a Butter Swirl & Corn Nuts' is the trash one. the corn nuts will get stuck in anyones teeth. like wet popcorn or something

        • @hetzjagd:
Totally agree. This one is disappointing. But Peanut Pretzel is pretty good.

I wish they'd bring back the Strawberry one.

      • +1

The only time I've ever declined the offer of a bowl of connoisseur

      • +1

Don't agree, should have paired it with half price Kraft peanut butter spread for extra flavour and you would have been in love

    • +1

Both Woolies and Coles stock the Brooklyn Collection range…

    • Just checked Woolworths web site and it now has the new 'American' flavours (Green Tea, Peanut Butter Pretzel, etc)

    • How the Green Tea?

      • I like it, less of a tea-taste than a classical Japanese green tea ice-cream, and has tasty white choc waffle pieces throughout. Not as more-ish as the sweeter flavours but still a nice snack.

    • +4

This trend of "American" flavors has to end. The flavours are awful. If they want to be more genuine, they'd add corn syrup to everything. This also makes all confectionary it taints, taste utterly gross.

      • +2

I'm with you. Would also prefer more classic luxury versions instead of burger and bubblegum flavors.

  • +7

    Green Tea!

    • Hell yeah!

    • Any good?

      • +4

the matcha is not as strong as the matcha ice cream you find in Japan. it's more the sweet side.

      • +4

Stronger then a lot of matcha ice creams designed for western palettes that most ice cream shops in Australia serve up (e.g Baskin Robbins), I was pleasantly surprised it actually had any matcha flavour to be honest. The wafer bits spread throughout the ice cream really do sweeten it up though.

        • I think I got a dodgy batch - the waffle pieces in mine were soft…

  • +2

Salted caramel is my favourite one.

    • +2

      Yes 10/10

      • +4

Partial to the cookies and cream one myself!

  • Nice ice cream.

  • Anyone tried Chocolate Brownie?

    • +4

Its very close to the taste of the Belgian Chocolate, instead of the fudge, its little brownie pieces. Cant tell much diference even though it says chocolate custard.

      • Remember Chocolate Obsession when made by Brownes in WA, this brand has been ruined.

  • +1

Time for fortnightly stock up ….
    love your post !

  • -3

For those who can't find the Green Tea they can price match @ Coles

    • Since when do supermarkets price match one another?

      • -2

        Since always.

        • yeah, nah. You'd need a full time team of people just to deal with every Joe Sixpack and Sally Housecoat saying "these tinned apricots are twenty cents cheaper at Coles, can you price match?"

        • Since never.

      • Since we have a "price match" box on our rainchecks at Coles.

  • +2

The feck … thanks to TA annd everything but I upvoted + first commented this same deal already earlier. Where did that go?!

  • This is yummy than the new apple which will be launched on same day

  • They got Cuban Mocha?

  • Belgian Choc…. Yummmmm… Hope Vanilla is the same.

  • +1

    Cooooooooookies and cream :3

  • +1

this is great ice cream and with the price of stawberries it will be strawberry crepes and and ice cream most of next week for breakfast ……. along with the mountain grown coffee that was 1/2 price a while ago ….. I love Spring …… and having cafe breakfast on a budget at home.

  • +5

Yum, love the cookies and cream! For those who have an aldi near them their cookies and cream version is very similar, I swear it's pretty much identical.

  • +8

    This should be everyday price.

  • Gotta clear room in the freezer

  • +1

I love this ice-cream. But like a few other brands in Australia they are fraudsters when it comes to marketing. Their vanilla ice cream doesn't have any vanilla in it despite having this whole story about going to source the best vanilla beans on the back of the packaging.

  • So are there any other ice creams at Colesworths/Aldi that actually taste anything remotely like ice cream any more, other than Connoisseur?

    • +1

Yeah, Haagen Dazs is back; Colesworths have just recently restocked them.
Currently on sale at Woolworths for $9/tub (457mL); usually $11.49/tub ($25 per Litre!)

      • +2

Big support for HD, the salted caramel actually uses true salted caramel, not that fake caramel sauce with salt. And the sauce stays liquid as well 10/10

        • Thanks for that info, will have to wait for Haagen Dazs to be 1/2 price to try the salted caramel one.

        • +1

@bluesky: I'm scared it'll just be like Ben and Jerry's, might not ever go on 1/2 price sales :(

        • +1

          @dengziyi: I will take 30% off even :-)

      • Thanks for the suggestion.

    • +2

Yes the Coles' own brand Rum & Raisin and Cookies & Cream are excellent. My local store sells 1 litre for $4.70. No artificial colours or flavours.

      • +1

Thanks for the suggestion. Will give them a try.

  • +1

this should be the standard price instead of having a sale after another

    • +2

the shopper psychology they are counting on in part is that some will buy more of this and other products when they think they have gotten a bargain. wouldn't happen if it was just part of a weekly shop at $4.84 each. sure would be nice though

  • +2

I'm going to stock up on rain-checks.

    • +2

Rain-checks now last for 4 weeks only. Unlike before - one whole year, which was great.

    • can you get them if they are missing particular flavours that they otherwise carry or does it have to be just all connoisseurs gone?

I hate when its just vanilla and the coffee one left

      • +1

You can get them as long as the flavour you are after is gone. Sometimes, the staff will specify the flavour you are after in the raincheck (esp if there are many others which are available). Other times, the staff simply writes the general product, so it will be applicable to any flavours.

        • +2

niiiice. I wish I had known about this long ago. sometimes it is really hit and miss depending on the time you go to the store and how big the store is

  • Has anyone seen Butterscotch & Gingerbread lately? It's been MIA the last few sales up here. Bit worried as I was enjoying it quite a lot.

    • +1

Now that you mention, I remember this vaguely, but have not seen it for a while.
Perhaps they don't produce this anymore, because if they do, shouldn't it be on this page?

      • Yeah. Bit of a ghost these days it seems.
What I do like is the Murray river salted caramel now has the fact it has nuts in it in the title.
Bought it a few half price sales back, over 6 months ago as a sample, one mouthful and tasted nuts, looked at the ingredients and saw it had nuts but failed to mention that on the front. Thought that was a bit strange. Least the missus was able to enjoy that one for me.

        • +1

Well, they do mention it, full name being "Murray River Salted Caramel with Chocolate Coated Hazelnuts". It is the best flavour, in my opinion. Lucky missus, no need to share! :-)

Edit: Sorry, didnt read carefully, nowadays they mention nuts in title, perhaps not so in the past. Yes, they should, for the benefit of people with nut allergy.

  • +2

I prefer the Coles vanilla bean ice cream http://shop.coles.com.au/online/mobile/national/coles-vanill…
And cheaper ever day compared to Connoisseur

    • +3

Coles brand are nice, but when you eat Connoisseur in front of people you can't help but feel superior than them.

  • +1

How can there be so many posts about ice cream?

    • Warmer days are coming? :-)

    • +1

Because it's been in the 20's for weeks already, in states with nice weather (everywhere but Vic?)

  • Cafe grande is the one for me with extra almonds

    • +1

I love this too. But just a heads-up, there were a couple times, where the almonds within were rock hard. When they are unusually hard like that, it is possible to chip a tooth if one chomps on the almond unawares. Best to bite on one and test how hard it is first. In most cases, they will be fine. (Not quite sure what happened to those tubs, fortunately, this is not the norm).

  • +1

Best supermarket ice cream by far ! Yummmy !

  • Here we go again. cookies & cream binging

  • never had this icecream before….is it just a vanila or some other flavors as well. ??????

    • +1

Many flavours - check them out here

  • The only issue with this deal is the local ww rarely stock what i want…….seems i have to go there 7am tomorrow morning for it……lol

  • 1 litre matcha, 2 sticks of butter. Dinner sorted

  • +1

    277 votes for icecream..dentists rejoice

  • +1

It's taken me ages to wean myself off of this evil in a tub!

  • +1

Matcha selling hot as pancakes. Sold out…… Guess will be buying it full price instead. Lol.

    • +4

Never my friend. Save your time and ask for a raincheck.
Then u can pick it up in the next 4 weeks for a sale price.
