I've purchased a Moto G4 Plus, before I realised it was missing the magnet/compass that I need for Satellite Finder apps.
I know I don't want much cough but here is what I am looking for…'
5-5.5" screen
Octa-Core (prefer 2GHz+ on 4)
Dual SIM (Dual Active)
Dedicated SD slot
32GB/2GB (prefer 64GB/3or4)
Magnet/Compass
B28
And of course the usual BT,GPS,WiFi etc
ALL without the price tag of a SGS7!
There are many Dual SIM phones which come close but are usually missing 1 of these specs - SIM2/SD shared slot, or no B28.
I still lack a bit of understanding with respect to the 700MHz bands. I know B28 is 'required' for Australia. I note that there are other 700 bands. Are any of those suitable?
edit: I've also discovered 2 more things today…
- I can't keep it charged. I think this is largely due to the Dual SIM. So I think a 4,000mAH is a good start.
- I think I need Dual Active SIM. Haven't found too many that do this. this is a Work/personal phone, and I absolutely need work calls to interrupt Personal. Forwarding Work calls on Busy to Personal is not ideal either as there is a chance it will hit my Personal voicemail.
The Zenfone 2 is tested to be dual Sim, Dual Active

Other models include
LG G3 D858 (note, no B28)
ASUS ZenFone Selfie ZD551KL 32GB (Taiwan version) (has B28 and dual sim standby) but this has Octa-core and also Marshmallow support.
Don't forget you're also looking for a phone whose modem supports two transceivers which can both access 3G.. It's no use if the second SIM slot does 2G only.
Telstra and Optus are shutting down 2G very soon.
No, it isn't. B28 is not a 'hard' requirement… it might be useful to have if you are ever out of metro areas where reception is poorer.
