Hi. I have been looking around for new Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge's and found a good deal on one but thought I should wait for my contract to expire before I buy one (going in a contract was a big mistake).
However, my current phone has gotten a lot worse. It keeps rebooting randomly, and when it isn't doing that it is very slow. I've already reset it. I don't want to get it sent off to Samsung and have to wait weeks to get it back, so was thinking of asking Optus (my provider) if they could let me out of contract as compensation or put a credit on my bill. Is that reasonable?
Anyway, I've found this website called 'Buy Mobile', and they are selling the phone for $870. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the company and whether their phones are legit. I'm looking for a brand new Black S7 Edge with 32GB+ storage, so if anybody finds a good deal on one, please let me know. I'm getting desperate so unfortunately don't have to much time to wait for a deal :( I'm looking to stay off contract because I have a grandfathered Freedom Plus SIM with Telstra as well as my own app so I can get 70% cash back on my recharges. This means I can get 3GB, Unltd Calls&Txts for $12 or 4GB, Unltd Calls&Txts for $15.
Phone in question is here: https://buymobile.com.au/products/samsung-galaxy-s7-edge-32g….
You can always ask. It won't hurt. But be reasonable when talking with the operator. You are contracted so as to pay off the phone, correct? They didn't manufacture the phone, they merely put up the cash for it in the expectation that you would pay them back for it. That it has started to malfunction before you have paid them back isn't really their problem, but yours. So when asking, keep that in mind, and be as sweet as can be. You may just get a generous response.
Having said that of course, you have certain rights under consumer law (which are between yourself and the retailer - in this case Optus). Maybe someone with more knowledge can suggest that you do have more of a right to what you're asking than what I've suggested?
