Old style Nokia 2720

My mum has had this Nokia 2720 fold flip phone for ever and it's now dying – I've tried to convince her to get another phone but she wants the same one – arrghhh. She only wants a flip/fold phone and she's learnt this phone off by heart now.
I have found a 2720 on eBay – i assume this is the only place I could source one from ?
She is on a plan with Vodafone so she doesn't want to change carriers, I was ghinking of that Nokia T20 flip but by the time I buy the phone and unlock it it's a $180 phone.
Does any one else have any suggestions or am I just going to have to buy the 2720 off eBay.

    isn't it 2G?

"Hey Mum, they are shutting down to 2G network so if I buy you a Nokia 2720 then it will stop working shortly, here, have this other phone"

These are made simply for seniors

I understand your frustration. I work with seniors (computer-related) every day & it's difficult to convince them to change things when they have such a hard time re-learning/remembering.

I would not want to purchase a 2G phone, as has been pointed out, it will soon have no service. Explain this as the same thing as when TV went to all digital.

I generally recommend MS phones for seniors. Not that I love MS, but rather you can place the "tiles" for her personal uses, on the main screen, & make it very simple to use. The 520/530 are very inexpensive to purchase.

    Just an idea.

    Good luck!

    • Sorry to be dumb - what's MS ?

      • MicroSoft.

Their Lumia Phones are cheap & you can set it up consisting of only the basics for your mum. The tiles are resize-able, so you can just place phone, messages, contacts, etc….to cover the "home" screen. Once it's set up, she won't have to delve any deeper if she doesn't wish to. Here's a quick video.

I know your mum won't need to know about the bluetooth, etc, but it does show the phone off well enough. This phone can also act as a GPS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1k0r5YD9PQ You can download the maps to the phone while you're on a wifi connection at home & then use it to navigate offline— a very cool feature as it means you do not need a data plan for this to work.
