  • what is the difference between 32 ohm and 80ohm?! do these need an amp to drive??

    • +3

I would recommend the 32 ohm for mobile, PC or laptop use, the 80 'can' be used on those devices but will sound better with a cheap amp. The other big difference is that the 32 ohm one comes with less comfortable leather pads compared to the more comfortable velour ones on the 80 and 250 ohm.

Simple guide on top of the box

      • damn :( guess i will have to wait for those to be on sale

    • I bought the 80 ohm. It goes more than loud enough for me on my phone / pc without an amp. I dont even listen to it on max volume.

I wish these had the same swivel that the m50's have. Then these would be perfect headphones.

  • For those that order the previous deal, any regrets?
    How comfortable are they?

    • Very comfortable once the clamping goes away. Velour is silky smooth,my good sir

      • Sound quality? Worth it?

        • If you don't have anything that ranks higher, these are good. Soundstage is pretty good even though they're closed… Sometimes i swear i hear somebody behind me when music is playing.
I wish they were wireless and had a mic, but then they'd be more expensive.

  • Beyerdynamic headphone tend to be too bright for my ear and can be very uncomfortable to listen with certain music.

    • Agreed, one of my early expensive purchases and a real let down.

There are many options out there, best to understand your own sound preferences before buying.

    • Bright?

  • I don't have DT770 but I got a DT990. The 770, 880, and 990 headphones all use the same design as far as fit and finish goes. I have to warn you that if you have a long head (it doesn't look that long when I look in the mirror), the headband does not adjust all that high, so it won't fit you 100%. This will be true of all 3 models.

Otherwise the pads feel very comfortable. But for my, my earlobes are being pushed up because I can't fit my ears in the center of the cups.

Other headphones I have extend by more than this.

    • +1

@lostn has hit it on the head
If you have a long head, then these need to be a "try before buy" thing.
The Sennheiser HD600/650s extend a lot further for comparison.
I generally wear the DT880s fully extended and these still do not geel right.
The Hd650s work at the 10-11th click on either side.

    • I have the 990 and the 770. The 990 is noticeably shorter on a long head!

I much prefer the 770/80 to the 990.

Great headphones. I'm tempted to buy another just in case they stop making them soon!

      • Oh…

I wish someone told me that.

        • I just checked. At least 5mm more reach, maybe 10mm.

        • @Risto: Probably not enough for me still. But it's an undocumented difference. I looked at comparison points between models and ohms. No one mentioned this.

  • I am so tempted, I have been waiting for these to go on special for a while (but might wait for a better deal). I own an Audio-Technica AD900X and wanted these because of how different the sound signature is in comparison. Tighter and stronger bass from what I've heard, which should make them more enjoyable for the movie/series watching experience, and my AD900X can remain my gaming/music headphone.

  • I had been eyeing off these headphones for a while, didn't expect this much of a price drop!

Ordered last night for 142.82 USD Delivered, paid by Bankwest Qantas Platinum card which charged me $189.58 AUD which is about the going rate according to XE.

    Thanks for the headsup OP!

  • would the audioengine d1 be enough to drive these?
