Stolen iPhone 6 and iPhone 6+ Morning 2nd of September 2016 Beckenham, WA

Just thought I'd post something on here if anyone happens to spot something somewhere.

Burglar broke in this morning and made off with one of my wife's handbags (they picked the cheapest bag out of the lot, looked flashy), about $25 in cash and both our iPhones. Mine was an iPhone 6 16GB Gold, her's was a iPhone 6+ 16GB Gold but Chinese stock as it was bought in China.

I've already turned on lost my phone on mine but she never bothered registering her's with iCloud so I can't do it on hers.

I'm not too bothered by this, just glad both us didn't get harmed. Slightly annoying though as I've got my wedding coming up in 9 days and we're both out phones so finishing organisation is going to be a pain T.T

If anyone sees anything interesting, feel free to shoot me a PM. Thanks guys and girls.

'I'm not too bothered by this, just glad both us didn't get harmed.'

That's exactly the right attitude to take towards such an unfortunate event amigo, particularly as you clearly have much bigger things to deal with right now! Just remember the old adage, 'the best revenge is living well'…

Best of luck for the big day :)

[PS. I assume you meant 'wife-to-be' in your post, given that the wedding has not happened yet?!?]

Or did he mean "one of my" wives' handbag? jk

I'm glad you're taking that attitude. I'd be completely freaking out that close to my wedding. Congratulations by the way!! Have you got insurance?

What I would do if you haven't already is go and buy a cheapo prepaid phone for you and your wife, get replacement sim cards. If you are with a main Aussie carrier like Telstra/optus/voda etc then you can do this on the spot in store and it should take about 5 minutes.

That way you can sort out replacements later but still be contactable by caterers etc. (Maybe you can treat yourself before your honeymoon, if you are going overseas and if the iPhone 7 is out and you can get the GST off) , alternatively buy a new 6 and 6+ at a discount!!

This was very stupid. But in the lead up to your wedding I'd recommend taking the "It's ok darling these things happen" approach instead of telling her that she was wrong. :P

Maybe it's time to step up your home security especially if you are going overseas or away at all for your honeymoon.

My condolences. I've never been robbed but there's a few things that I'd probably do:

    Block the IMEI's
    File a police report.
File insurance claims as soon as possible
    Tighten your home security.

  • Hey thanks for the comments. Yeah I've always had the sentiment that once you buy something, prepare to lose it at any point. Keeps you vigilant about negligent misplacement and keeps emotions out when loss out of your control occurs.

Hahaha I almost wrote wives multiple times, no only 1. We are technically married, just haven't had the ceremony done.

@Scrim Cheers for the recommendations, have already done what we can. We live in a rental atm, waiting for settlement for our new house so there is only so much tightening(haa) we can do. Have already notified the strata people and owner is getting quotes for a security door for the Balcony. Already have had all the locks changed as my wife's set of front door keys were in the bag as well.

@knick Yeah, already on my friends if they have any spare phones. Got 2 $10 prepaid optus cards for now, already ordered replacement sims from Vaya ($20 a pop, guess that's how they subsidize their cheap plans).

Yesterday night I was tracking my phone and the people turned it back on in, surprise surprise, Alexander heights / Mirrabooka area. Notified the Police but they only had time to check it out 45mins after I called so no-show. I'll keep an eye out, it seems they randomly turn it on and off.

    • Glad to here you guys weren't attacked, it would be very scary.

We have an electronic code lock on our front door so things like lost/stolen keys aren't an issue, it also means we can allow someone to access our place for a short time and then remove the access without the risk of a copied key. I'm not sure why this isn't more popular with rental properties as it makes changeover really easy.

My view on house break-ins is steal what you like but leave the cats alone.
