  • Glad I still own my Nokia 3310

    • Put a hammer into my old Nokias felt so good !! oh yeah and a samsung galaxy ace- :)shitbox mobile

      • +3

How many hammers did you break?

  • CHERISH UR LIFE, STAY AWAY FROM SAMSUNG………
WASHING MACHINE, MOBILE WHAT IS NEXT?

    • TV?

    • My s7 edge is the best phone, though.
      My Samsung fridges are great.
My Samsung TV and DVR work perfectly.

    • STAY AWAY FROM SAMSUNG………
      WASHING MACHINE

This is just getting ridiculously old now…

  • JB have already stopped sales on them

  • +1

This is interesting. Usually if they do this, when they re-start selling the phone it will come with a lot of goodies attached (a bit like Telstra's network meltdown and it gave free data).

    • Those freebies are never worth it.
      Remember the PSN fiasco?

I think when weighing up everything, the majority would rather have expected service over such crappy freebies.

      • Note 7 is Samsung's flagship phone. With Iphone7 on the horizon, I think the stakes are high. Financially Samsung just got out of jail since S7. I think they will go all out with their charm offensive.

So penance will be high. I reckon. We will see.

        • That really depends.
          Why?
Because if you have to send your phone back it means you need to backup everything from your NOTE 7. It also means you need a another phone while you're sending it out, which means likely you will have to buy another one.

So if you go and buy another phone, it will likely cost you >$500. Then Restore all your contents from your NOTE 7 to it. Then you will have to wait (likely) 4 weeks to get your replacement NOTE 7 back.

Now you need to go and back up your other phone. Then restore it into the new NOTE 7. Then you will have to try and get a refund on your $500 phone, which in most cases, you won't get it back.

Personally, if I was in that situation, and Samsung decided to give me a $50 voucher I would be pissed. Because that whole hassle was simply not worth my time. And now I possibly have a $500 loss through the other phone, and would have to sell it privately at a reduced cost as Second Hand.

So…let's see how this plays up.

        • @Kangal:

Absolutely true. As i said below. It is their decision to ditch replaceable batteries, now they are paying the price given if the battery was user replaceable the problem would have been far simpler to deal with.

Ironic if i may say so myself. Hope they learn from this.

Still the penance needs to be very high.

        • What would you think will be expected to sweeten the deal?

I personally am going to buy the Note7 no matter what, I am happy to see Samsung recall all the devices for safety even though it would have cost them a huge amount.

I went from an old Nokia, to the iPhone4(got it asap) and then the next phone I went to the Note4(got it too asap) and now I am sticking to the Note7 as they are pretty amazing.

I didn't get the chance to buy the Note7 as it got 'sold out' from the Kogan store just 30minutes before I was about to place my order. But I am still happy to wait.

          @0burntrice0:

Me too. I am quite happy with the way they handled the recall at present. Swift and no excuses in my opinion.

But with the reputational damage plus the impending Iphone 7 coming out, I think Samsung Mobile Phone division, who is now under a new leadership, would want to take an all-out approach once the phone is re-released.

I can think they may be including accessories such as the 256gb memory card again or even the VR. If you're with Telco, I could think a contract special as well. I think in US, there is a $25 credit or something like that.

        • @burningrage:

I wouldn't use the SD card or the VR personally but I think I would prefer the card to sell, Then again I am planning on buying the phone through Kogan (to get the Blue Coral version). So any additional extras will probably not be included.

If Samsung released the Blue Coral in Australia with the re-release I would 100% buy that no matter the price.

  • HA SAMSUNG QUALITY!

Some one who owns take it apart and tell me where the battery is made please?

    • +4

yeah ok, ill take apart a $1300 phone just so you can see where its made..

    • I'm neither an apple or Samsung person (unfortunately I use a blackberry phone for work) but I seem to recall Apple having quality issues with phones melting. They are all made in the land of junk (China)

    • Made in Dongguan China by Dongguan ITM Electronics Co. LTD.

Any bargains from this I wonder ;)

    • This is from the samsung site,

Do I need to return all my accessories that came in the box?

No, we do not require you to return all the accessories which came with the device.
If you received a free 256G SD card as a part of the pre-sales order, you may keep the SD card.

I have been waiting for the Blue but I really wish that I pre-ordred a Note so I could have got a refund.
I am also pretty certain that once the Note7 is released it will come with some lovely additional accessories to sweeten the deal and to convince people to go Samsung instead of Apple.

  • +1

Apple is now going to sue Samsung for copying it…..😷

  • Hey guys you can jump in line now for a repair, replacement or refund on the Note 7:

    http://www.samsung.com/au/galaxynote7-notice/

    SM-N930FZKAXSA - Black
    SM-N930FZDAXSA - Gold
    SM-N930FZSAXSA - Silver

I guess after completing the details they will contact you this week about the process.

  • So what is the problem? Some say faulty battery. Have also read that 3rd party charging leads are the cause.

  • Pity those expensive grey imports……

  • Samsung are offering the followung
    A) a fix (battery replacement)
    B) replacment phone
    C) full money-back

This is according to the news on the today show.

    • They would cover the grey imports as well since it's Global Recall

  • +2

Ironically since the problem was detected as being battery, it is their decision to stop replacable battery means they now have to return the whole handset as opposed to swapping just the battery.

I hope they will learn the lesson from this.

  • Mobileciti's handling of the recall so far:

    1. We have no idea about it, Samsung haven't said anything about how to handle the recall (really? you link to the Samsung notice on your website, and point me to it by email, but have no clue what it says?)

    2. "If you are unhappy with your purchase, no worries, we do have a 30 day return policy. If you wish to return a product as Unsatisfied as long as the item is in original condition and you still have full sales packing ,256gb microsd card" (really? Samsung clearly mentions on their site they don't want the micro SD cards back).

Their response so far has been treating it as if I'm requesting a change of mind return rather than an ACCC-enforced recall, for which the manufacturer clearly mentions they don't want the micro SDs back (considering the memory cards were a bonus from Samsung)…

It's only when things go pear shaped that you find out a retailer's true form. And MobileCiti might be decently priced, but credible they don't seem to be.

With some forum members also reporting receiving phones with opened seals, I'll be wary of them in the future.

  • Anyone had any issues with Kogan?
I ordered mine 2 weeks ago and assumed they wouldn't ship it as they'd been recalled. But today I got an email saying it had been shipped!
I asked them about it and they redirected me to Samsung. They also said Samsung hadn't told them which units were affected…

  • +1

I bought mine from Harvey Norman with the 256 card. I took it in yesterday phone only, minus sd card, charger, earphones, box etc. They were fine with that. They are also giving me a Galaxy J1 mini to use (they are getting me one from another store as they had run out) This phone will me mine to keep when the Note's come back in. They currently sell this for $199. Hoping maybe for some other goodies when it all gets resolved.

    • Looks like retailer and manufacturer are handling it well…..positive notes.
