[Price Error] Tamron 18-270mm Lens Travel Kit (Canon) $43 at Harvey Norman

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Price error with a missing digit? Lens + filter + Lowepro camera bag + cleaning kit for $43 (was $643).

The Tamron 18-270mm Travel Kit for Canon is the perfect companion for budding travel photographers. The Tamron 18-270mm lens is perfect for capturing action on the move, while the rest of the kit provides all the tools you need to keep your Canon DSLR and Tamron lens in top condition, no matter the conditions.

"Ends 8.9.16" but I suspect it would not last long. If it happens to be a price error, i.e. no one is able to get it at this price, it would be moved to the forum.

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • If anyone has this honoured they're a freaking legend. And I don't even like this lens.

  • wow….. cheap like veges…

  • +3

Sometimes i wonder wouldnt it be better to keep it on the low wait til you get confirmation or even wait until you get the shipping notification before posting here? Just to ensure you get the item before letting it get OzBargained. Props for your selflessness OP!

    • +1

When somebody finds what it appears to be 90% pricing error posting it on ozbargain will sabotage your own chances of actually getting one…..as this will alert the business straight away and cancelling all orders.

Much better off keeping it to yourself….

    • +12

Well. It's the age of Internet and if I don't post it this morning, someone else will. I don't even own a DSLR let alone a Canon EOS. However it would be priceless to have the man calling us Professionals again.

  • +2

oh wow. wish i had got here earlier

  • +2

oh no…. should have checking ozbargain like every 5 mins

  • Bondi had 3, 2 faulty and 1 guy came before me. They sold for $43, not price error.

    • +1

likely pricing error, but also likely staff who didn't care…

  • Don't be sad until people confirm that they got it😀

  • Doubt they will honor but worth a try.

  • +1

Since when does HVN start honouring pricing error deals? I hope I am wrong and this deal wasn't a pricing error so people who bought it will get the bargain.

  • Went to warragul right away and the item wasnt showing up on their system. Ah well, worth a shot :)

  • Wow, this is seriously cheap. I got this lens almost 6 years ago and has been very handy for travel.

  • Hi guys i just went to hn and brought them even the payment was made but suddenly i guy came and said its pricing error, they cant honour for that price. Good thing is payment was made ,i was just to leave in 10 secs but one guy stopped me. Iam in store right now what do i do now?

    • +4

if you've paid for it and have the item then they have accepted your offer and it's yours.

Thanks guy, but don't hold me against my will.

    • +5

      ignore them and leave

    • +4

      Legally they can't stop you

    • +3

Yes as altomic said, you can keep it now. Otherwise they are breaching your contractual rights. Invitation to treat was made, you offered the $43, they accepted, consideration was made (exchange of value) and contract ended once both parties (HN and You) completed each others obligations. You are no longer under legal obligation to return the item to them regardless of the pricing error.

        Gerry style*

    • very curious how you fought back

  • +1

They took back the kits and spoke to manager he said he will offer 50$ gift card instead of them

    • +3

Which store? We should all try this.

      • Waurnponds , geelong. Vic

    • +4

I think once payment is made, both parties has agreed to the value and its your own legal right to walk away

    • +3

Dont accept that gift card. You have the rights under consumer law and fair trading.Have you the receipt of payment …dont give them the receipt. This issue can even be reported to Police if they dont honour what was mentioned on the receipt ..once transaction has been processed through the billing.

      TAKE IT TO CURRENT AFFAIRS

    • @rakhi this can become a legal case against the HN store under Uncollected Goods Act 1995 No 68

      http://www.legislation.nsw.gov.au/#/view/act/1995/68/part2/s…

      • +2

Believe @rakhi is in Victoria, so NSW legislation would not apply. As @stuhtb pointed out at common law the contract was settled, and the merchandise was his. I'd go to Consumer Affairs as the first avenue to resolve this dispute.

  • how many kits did u get?

    • 2

      • So did they give you a $50 voucher for each kit?

        • Altogethar $50, and i refused to take it

        • @rakhi: Good gal :-)

    • +4

Iam still in car park fromt of store, waiting for my friend. Is that good idea to complain police.

      • +1

You haven't handed them over have u??

        • Sale person took it back to office

        • @rakhi:

by force? over did you nicely handed it over?

        • @OhMaJuck: They took nicely

        • @rakhi: I'd go back and nicely ask for ur tendered goods back. They advertised the price, u purchased the goods at that price and completed the transaction. End of story.

        • @rakhi: You are legally entitled to the kit, they did not correct or mention a pricing error during the time you paid and got the receipt. It was mentioned only after the purchase, which means you can keep the kit.

        • @stuhtb:

          TOO LATE NOW

        • @rakhi:

They'll just lie and say it's been sold. All they will do is offer you a refund and gift card now. You shouldn't have let them take it back

        • +2

@tikei: If they're approached by an external party like Consumer Affairs, they'd probably decide it's not worth lying and might just eat the loss and give him his property back.

      • +1

it was a price error, just take the $50 and leave.

      • +6

Complain to Consumer Affairs Victoria (https://www.consumer.vic.gov.au/)

Explain to them that you had ordered a product online, came into the store, paid cash for it, completed the transaction and was given the goods. After that you were told the item had been mispriced and the product was taken away from you.

The advertised price was an "invitation to treat", your offer of the money was a contractual offer, they took your money, accepting your offer, and gave you the product in consideration. The contract was complete. The merchandise belonged to you at that point. They had no right to take the item back.

Did you get a receipt for the purchase? If so hang onto it.

        • +5

Also under Section 36 ss 1 of the CCA; "A person must not, in trade or commerce, accept payment or other consideration for goods or services if, at the time of the acceptance, the person intends not to supply the goods or services"

HN have clearly breached this and @rakhi consumer rights. I really hope schools/workplaces implement compulsory legal education regarding these areas of law, as I have seen far too often people getting ripped off due to their lack of knowledge of the law, which always seem to be exploited by business such as HN.
