New Flat Bar Road Bike? Budget ~ $200-$230

Need an upgrade from my last bike from Target (yes), mainly for commuting or even going for a casual ride. Initially thought of getting a Mountain Bike but realised it would end up costing too much and I probably would never end up going mountain biking anyway. Any suggestions? Thanks :)

    I will go for second hand on Gumtree for that budget. You can get something relatively decent for that money. Look for bikes with a compact crank and Sora or above level groupset and you'll be fine.

      Yeah my current bike isn't in too bad of a shape I guess? But it really is starting to feel 'worn out' so I thought I would get something new a durable :)

    I would go Gumtree. I managed to get a Giant Roam 3 (Mountain + Road Bike Hybrid) 2015 Model for less than $200. It was in great condition, but you have to be patient, it takes a lot of searching.

      Cheers for the advice! :) I have been looking at Gumtree for a while now and I can see a few good options, the only downside being the people who are posting the ad live like 2hr drive away from me, so will need to find some time

        Ah, yeah, that's the only bad part. Luckily, I found one around 15km's from me. But I had been searching for almost a month before that.

    Combination of road bike and mountain bike
    Combination of light weight and mountain bike comfort

    I personally have one to cycle to uni and do groceries, it has the bicycke stand and rear rack

      Not really going to be light weight, but would be relatively comfortable as a cruising around bike. Won't be fast or suit off road though.

    Have you considered buying on Aliexpress or eBay? I'm considering Alibaba but the shipping costs might just make the price the same as Aliexpress. Does anyone have good stacking discounts to buy bicycles from Aliexpress?

      The cheap, Unknown brand bikes online will typically not be any better than one from Kmart, but without a shop you can take it back to when it breaks.
