Electrolux Kettle EEK7804S $49 + Post @ Harvey Norman

1520

Harvey Normans one day sale.
Dont need anything, but saw a very good looking kettle with temp control on clearance for $49+$15 post to WA. No stock in WA and I have not checked other states.
Reviews are mixed, many died within the first year, but if your one works past that, then its a bargain =)
Could not find other places that sell it, just 1 ebay listing at some crazy $250

  • Great functionality and looks but reviews all say that it dies in no time and the water tastes like metal.

The water tastes like metal put me off.

I'm into heavy metal, so bought 5, THANKS OP!

That must be the fake reviews on ProductReview.

Check out the verified purchaser reviews on Amazon for the US version. The link is in this comment above.

      • You must remember with something like a kettle, someone isn't going to jump online to write a positive review. Most people would only jump online to write something negative, now if it was an Apple Kettle then it would be a different story…

        • As I said in another comment, I've seen the same pattern on most products I've looked up on that site - from gadgets to insurance policies to ISPs. While I take your point, it's looks really dodgy that 90% of 1-star reviews are written by 1-review users for any given product or service.

Not to mention that 1-star reviews are extreme by nature - this implies that it's completely unusable…

That's why I really like the Amazon-type 'verified reviewer' system that some sites use.

        • @elektron: Yeah agreed it can look dodgy and I do tend to skip 1 review users when reading product reviews. Sometimes I've even gone so far to work out the average if all the 1 review users were removed.

However, I also think there are some people that simply rage that their product is not working and decide to vent online as some sort of therapeutic relief and think giving it 1 star is the ultimate revenge.

        • @sena86: I agree with most if the things you said there but I tend to go the extra mile sometimes and also exclude the both the 1 and 5 start reviews, although not so much with those from verified purchases on Amazon.

        • Consistent complaints indicate a problem though. ie: digital display fails etc, repeated several times, might indicate a weakness

  • The RRP price is $149.99 on the price tag, not $300…

    • Thanks. I wonder why it it's so much cheaper than what seems to be the US equivalent on Amazon.

thanks OP, bought a kettle and toaster (didn't really need them, but this is OzBargain after all)

  • Late for the party. Don't know why I missed this deal as I checked Ozbargain at least a dozen of times.. Still manage to order one to be collected at a store 40km from me…

Marion (SA) had 9 left in stock when I left there about an hour ago. Comes up as "out of stock" on the website, but apparently, they took delivery of 10 just this afternoon. Wife's pressie sorted. Thanks OP.

    • I'll keep checking the website to see if they update it again. All stores look like they are now out of stock.

Good price. But after reading that the beeps are ear piercing I've decided to stay away.

    • +1

Really not that loud. It beeps loud enough so if you're in another room you can hear it. If you're in the kitchen it's hardly ear piercing.

      • Thanks for the info. You've been using one for a while? Does the water ever taste metallic?

As non-tea drinkers I think I'd just be buying as part of 'ozbargain fever'..

        • +1

Just got it today! Water doesn't taste metallic to me at all, i just boiled up some water 3x and tipped it out like the instruction said and it seems fine. Hey you can always take up drinking tea :) or how about for guests? hahaha

  • got a set Kettle and Toaster, thanks OP

  • +1

Kettle/Toaster might be the new Eneloop.

  • Seems to be back up to $149 now, $49 on link but at checkout, $149.

  • WTF Price just jumped to $149

    • +2

The reason is in the first line of the post. :)

  • I dont get this, price is listed as $49 but If I add it to cart it changes it to $149???

  • Just had Harvey Norman call me to cancel my order, the sales guy said they had too many orders and not enough stock.

  • Now gone from the website :(

  • My kettle has been officially lodged for shipment… from TAS. Just waiting on an email for the blender, already got the call.

  • Man. I got cancelled for this. I showed that they have stock before. Farr missed out

  • Just got an email from HN.

Just emailing to advise that we are unable to fulfil your online order for the Electrolux kettle due to the 1 unit we have in stock has been returned from a customer.

We do however have the EEK7804G on back order from the supplier if you wish to change model.

If you do not wish to change I can contact online and have your payment refunded.

Please advise what you would like me to do.

On inspection the model is almost identical to the one I bought except it's missing "other smart features". I also found it weird there's only 3 websites on google when I google EEK7804G - 2 are electrolux au and the other one is in Macedonia. It must be a new model?

Anyway the "other features" are as follows:

    Other smart features
The Expressionist Collection Kettle comes with a one hand lid opening push button for easy handling, an LCD display so that you can easily see the temperature level and its real time progression, and the water control window is LED illuminated so that you can easily read the water level.

This means if it doesnt have these features it doesnt have countown timer, temperature level display & and led in the water level.

Unsure what to do. They didn't mention anything but I assume they'll be replacing for the same price.

    • +1

I accepted this 'G' model in place of the one up top here as they were out of it despite my click and collect going through.

It's exactly the same features. Only difference is the plastic detailing is a charcoal grey rather than lighter grey pictured above.

In summary - take the option if you still want the kettle.

Picked it up today. Works fine so far. I just pressed the button and will leave it on the green tea setting. Ha!

    • The last letter of the model signifies the colour. I went in to a store to buy mine so I know.

They're all stainless steel body but the plastic parts differ, either grey, black or a copper auburn colour. It seemed all colours were priced at $49 on Thursday, so you could have picked up a colour of your choice including the copper one.

  • Harv just emailed to inform me that my C&C order placed yesterday has been cancelled and refunded due to low stock. Poor form but at least I was able to collect my toaster and blender today.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-brgkkjnHc - Just substitute 'car' for 'kettle.

  • They refund me for the kettle but will deliver the toaster.
I don't need the toaster, only got it because I wanted the matching set :(
I have email them to cancel the toaster but no reply.

So I only just got a call from Harvey Norman apparently my order got sent to Hobart, I asked why and they said "Because we have the kettles" (wtf ok) and they will have to cancel my order for whatever reason. I got the blender, kettle and toaster, and I am in the ACT…

    • I got my kettle.

Its a pretty cool kettle. I like the temp display and it seems to hold the heat fairly well under normal conditions (without hold heat selected).

      • Thanks for rubbing it in. :(

        • +1

Sorry I didn't mean to come across like that and I'm sure another kettle offer will come up soon

After the initial excitement of the deal I hadn't heard anyone else say much about what they thought of the kettle.

At least you got the blender and toaster. :)

        • @rob74: hahaha all good, I was kinda joking. But apparently they cancelled my entire order for whatever reason. So I'm up the creek on that

  • How did I miss this deal?

  • So….. my kettle already died. I can turn it on at the powerpoint and it beeps but then nothing else happens from there. no boiling, no button pressing. great…

    • +2

It was a fine a kettle. Give it a good funeral.

  • I've recently noticed that the kettle makes a sound (coil whine?) when left on standby power. Anyone else have this issue?
