What's Your Favourite Coffee Beans?

Please list your favourite coffee from mana beans and why?

For me I don't have an actual favourite, I love to try all the different ones that are offered from time to time, I prefer a single origin over a blend

Why Manna Beans? Are you associated?

  • No nothing to do with them apart from buying my coffee through them

  • Well I don't know about home brewed coffee as I don't buy beans but I've found that for barista coffee Campos or Whithams are consistently good.

and no, i'm not associated with them

been buying these beans for about 6 years

have tried others, but always go back…..great coffee Yili :)

    • Good price - but 5kg must take a while to drink :-) Although I suppose they will keep, since each kg has its own sealed bag. Is that your experience? Thanks.

Fresh beans should be generally consumed within a few weeks after roasting

        • Sure, that is what should be done for best outcome. But unless you can get someone to share, it is going to be hard to consume 5kg in a few weeks. Wonder if freezing them as soon as you get them will help?

  • The ones they sell at Woolworths and Coles. Gold packaging.

  • I've never tried Manna. I used to really enjoy Zarraffas African Masai (used in KitchenAid burr grinder and ridiculously expensive POS Kitchenaid Artisan Espresso machine that has now well and truly shit itself), but now their beans are too damn expensive. Never thought I'd take the plunge with a pod machine, but the recent Saeco/Map deal was too good to ignore and I'm really enjoying the Map medium blend coffee atm.

  • Best coffee I've had for value is the trung Nguyen creative 8. Look it up. You definitely won't be disappointed

    Chocolate Coated Coffee Beans.

  • I've always bean a fan of Bay Beans. James has always provided excellent customer service. Elixir coffee (Brisbane) is very good too for local purchase.

  • Guatemalan Antigua beans

  • Ethiopian Yergacheffe is by far my favourite. I prefer to get green beans and roast them myself. It works out cheaper, the roast is always fresh and you get more control over the roast darkness. But, even when buying Yergacheffe roasted, it is an excellent bean. Ideal as a ristretto, but also makes a good espresso. Some of the nuances can be lost when combined with milk, but it has enough character to cut through and still be enjoyable.

Another good bean is Indonesian Lingtong, but apparently the last crop was substandard so it's been a bit harder to get. It used to be much cheaper. Yergacheffe was around the $20/kg whereas Lingtong used to sell for around $10/kg about a year ago. Lingtong is ideal in milk based drinks and if the roast is not too dark it can handle slight over-extraction gracefully.
