Anyone sold anything to GOLDBUYERS AUSTRALIA yet?

Have seen a few reports on Goldbuyers on current affair and today tonight, and since they're probably a bit one sided, just wanted to know people's thoughts and experiences with this company or similar ones like it

Cheers

    Check out this article.

I personally do not believe in using any outfit that operates kiosks like these as they can be set-up and shut up without much outlay. A table, scale and a few signs is all the kiosk consists of.

I'm also weary when one of the marketing highlights is that 'you will get CA$H today!'. Capitalising on your need for money in the same way that Cash Converters do with short term loans.

But if you have taken your jewellery to a few different places and have a fair idea of what its worth, then you could always try you hand.

Probably worth finding out what the price of gold is and compare to what they tell you it is :)

  • I found the gold price they offer to be unreasonable compared to the real value. Have a look at http://gold.yabz.com/jewelry.htm to find the commercial value before you decide to sell.

  • I've seen these guys in shopping centres though apart from that I haven't had much contact with them or similar companies.

However, I will say that anything that appears on ACA/TT should generally be taken with copious amounts of salt. :)

    • exactly and the rents they pay to Westfield and the others comes out of your gold price…

  • I have heard that the gold is bought at significantly below the expected price. imho take your stuff to a jeweller or someone who specialises in actual second hand jewlerry - not a kiosk.

Sort of a setup only a mug would sell their valuable jewellery to.. and there is no shortage of mugs around!!
I will give credit to whoever thought up the idea as there is no crime in taking advantage of fools. How many existing businesses thrive on that exact principle.. this is just another one.

A place for thieves to cash in if you ask me!

  • Sell it on Ebay or take it to your local jewelry store!
My mother was walking past them to hear them talking about buying an expensive watch off a lady for a cheap price, the watch was worth more than the gold on the watch… -.-

It is a great business idea, but they seem a bit dodgy to me.. but that is my opinion.
