Qantas will reduce fees in line with RBA regulations, but not Jetstar?

On September 1, Qantas will finally change its CC fees to a percentage (their website was updated a while ago) in line with RBA regulations. But I still don't see any mention on sister Jetstar's website. Or Tiger for that matter.

Should we start flooding their Facebook pages with questions?

  • Good. Jetstar is a flaming pile of turd.

    Fly Virgin

    • Doesn't Qantas own Jetstar?

      • yes

    • Tiger Australia is owned by Virgin and also hasn't indicated they'll change their fees.

Thanks. I'll need 1000 more complainers to make the public outrage seem convincing.

Nothing in the regulations requires the business announce the change in their surcharges early. Wait until 1 September 2016 to see if they comply.

(in the voice of Homer Simpson) But I'm angry now!!

  • Maybe Tigerair and Jetstar are just playing their cards close to their chest. Neither wants to reveal their hand first.

Anyways I never pay the cc fees as they are easy engough to avoid. Jetstar price-beat ftw.

  • Jetstar has listed their changes (Tiger air still waiting) but the website seems very temperamental at the moment. It keeps changing the fees!

How do they tell the difference between debit and credit from the card number alone? Because it doens't seem to work when it even uses percentage in the first place…

  • There were teething troubles but the changes seem to work now (including debit cards). With a debit card, you now pay 17 cents for a $35 flight from Sydney to Melbourne (Avalon) instead of $8.50 i.e. $35.17 vs $43.50. You save 24%!
