Had a pretty bad experience with PayPal last night, I ordered 1 item from TheGoodGuys - Ebay site.
Checkout and payment was normal, but the purchase didn't appear in Ebay, I thought I would login and check my bank to see if card had been charged, only to find my account had been cleaned out…
Phoned the bank and they said there was 8 pending transactions for Paypal, and to speak with Ebay and Paypal today.
Heres what PayPal debited me.

So after speaking with the Bank, Paypal, Bank and Paypal again, it seems that no one has the money, they are both saying the other one has the money and its up to them to transfer it back.
Bank cant say when it might appear back in my account as they don't have it, Paypal said the same… Then came up with a figure of 7-10 days it should appear back in your account.
No one at PayPal seemed interested in knowing there might be a bug/glitch in the system… Or that I have no money due to being charged 8 times.
In Ebay at the moment the item shows as: Your payment didn't go through, so the order was cancelled. Please pay for this item again.
Pretty disappointed with the whole experience.
Do what cheap charlie recommends. They are holding thousands of your money that you can't use. What would happen if you have any other payments that needed to be made (or a really good bargain came along!), and you weren't able to pay it?
7-10 days would not be acceptable to me.
Either company absolutely has the power to rectify the error in a shorter time frame than that.
I'd escalate the issue as high up as possible, and if they still didn't resolve it, I'd publicly shame them on social media until they fix the problem.
(In my own experience I get better 'customer service' by going through social media than their official customer server contact methods. It seems to me that these corporations give much more importance to the staff that deal with their social media.)
