I don't wanna be that guy, but my truckie mates reckon Waeco are junk, Engel or nothing they reckon…I won't make false claims to knowing either way myself, but I reckon if you can't trust a fat trucker, who can you trust! ;)

    • +5

I'm an Engel or bust guy, but at this price I'd suggest keeping some cash in your pocket, amazing price.

My 50 and 110 litre are going fine after 10+ years.
The old fella`s had his for 8 years with no issues.

    • +1

Engel are OK if you can't get yourself a dinkum Norcoast Trailblaza :)

    • +1

I know you don't like it now but give it time and you'll warm to the idea

    • +1

Engels are a shadow of what they used to be, these days they are no better then any Waeco on the market.

My CF50 has been in the truck for around 9 years now, getting hammered around and still works perfectly

    • My Waeco 40 and 110 are amazing. Never let me down in over 8 years of camping.

  • Had mine for 6mths, been sitting on for about 5 if those chilling to -2, great little fridge.

  • +3

    50litre would be perfect!!

    • I tried to negotiate a deal for a 50L but Anaconda didn't appear to be interested. They sent me a general response.

      • Try Atlanta refrigeration, they were $100 cheaper than Anaconda at the caravan and camping show last month.

    • A CF50 almost fits a case of beer - 22 bottles to be precise :) Plenty of room to rest sausages / salads etc on top.

  • I'm in for one. Cheapest I've seen.

  • Best price I've seen. Now for a best price slide to go on top of the drawer set.

    • +2

I know that there will be detractors for the following comment, but if you need drawers and fridge slides have a look a 4WD Supa Centre Rear Drawers as the drawer unit has a built in fridge slide on the top. For under $500 for 2 full extension drawers with built in fridge slide it is very hard to even buy the materials alone.

      • Already have drawers so just need the slide to fit on top. Supa Centre price seems attractive but can't justify effort and cost in replacing. Worth a look for others though.

        • Depends if you want a drop slide or tilt or straight. If your handy with the tools you can make your own slide for around 80 bucks (2 HD slid rails and some 18mm marine ply or 3mm aluminium sheet)

Otherwise keep an eye on MSA drop down slides, they arent cheap but they are worth the money as they will last longer then the fridge.

I have a 20 year old waeco that has been banged around like crazy and is still going strong. My only complaint is the lids are really flimsy - had to put my own hinges on after the crappy plastic ones broke, they might've changed this design though. This is a great price.

  • I've got the CF50 Model: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Waeco-CF-50-Pack-Including-Co…

I bought the CF50 because it has the "Danfoss BD-35F compressor" that will outlast a human lifespan.

The CF40 Model makes no mention of this compressor: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Waeco-CF-40-Fridge-Freezer-Co…

Thank you whoever bought the last one. You saved me from an impulse buy! $490 saved!

    • I have been looking around for a very long time for a good deal. Could be even 2 years. Wasn't an impulse purchase for me.

      • I've also been looking for years as well, and it's a fantastic deal. I just know I'll use it for all the wrong reasons (taking food and drink I'd be better off not consuming!). Now that there's a decent amount of stock again, it will give me a chance to measure up to make sure it will fit where I want it etc.

    • I read this reply last night and thought—- yeah, saved me too.

Now back in stock, now this morning I find I just couldn't resist and spluttered out near $500…

  • They have refreshed their stock levels. Looks like lots left now.

    • Thanks. I have activated the deal again. Someone just bought 3!

  • Is this waeco a better option than the lumik 55l on ebay with a danfoss compressor, or even a ridgeryder from supercheap?

    • I have never heard of that brand. There is a popular model from primus which is rebadged by many stores. A mate of mine has one and he recommends it. I think Anaconda has it as cool station 50L. There is surposed to be an ARB one which is also popular

    Wish this was a cfx50

    • May be in 5+ years

      • +1

True. Rather get the right thing than the cheapest thing tho. It's a bit small for me and the cfx models are less power hungry and don't chew the battery as bad. Maybe I'll change my mind in the morning.

  • Ordered about 9am Thurs, now to wait.

    • Mine was posted Thursday morning. You can always try and ask for local pickup if you have a store close to you.

  • Danfoss no
    SECOP inside

Just for clarity, they dont make these anymore so its old stock, but the box in Anaconda suggests these are made after Danfoss was sold/taken over by SECOP or something similar. Whether these are as good or not as the Original Danfoss I cant say.

    • Lol.
Just have a look on the Secop website

2010 Acquisition by Aurelius AG and change of name from Danfoss Compressors to Secop
      http://www.secop.com/about-us/our-history.html

Same company, just a different name.

      • Seriously, when you find yourself typing the bleeding obvious its a sign youre missing something.

I even stated the take over in my post. They didnt sell it to themselves, so companies change when sold, not just names. The quality of Waecos over the original Waecos, is down. Check out any 4WD forum and see for yourself. They are bringing quality back up in the CFX range apparently. This one is a CF, from just after the take over at Danfoss, when quality of Waecos fell.

Its not the people on the factory floor, its the suppliers and quality of the parts. These change as differnet owners want different profit margins and market placement in price etc. Cultures change, the top changes. Plenty changes, rarely just the name.

        • I didn't mean to offend, I was just pointing out that this was an Acquisition and a name change.

I've had good experiences with the Danfoss previously and am very happy with the current Secop product. I don't believe the quality has changed at all, for the worse or better. They've even kept the same model number (BD35F).

From my experience there has been no change, but there will always be anecdotal reports.

          *You're

        • -1

@MATTDAMON: Thats a very glass house you live in there numbnuts. Surely it's you're, not You're. Pedantic semantics. The jibe works when your and you're are mixed. The missing apostrophe is a desperate attempt to pull off a troll that 2002 wants back <<< irony.

  • Just bought two for camping. Cheaper than one big one and more flexible.
