I'm heading to LA tomorrow just want to know if it's cheaper to exchange money here or once over there?

Might be too late for you but the best bet is to get a Citibank Visa Debit Card. No fees at all when withdrawing money from ATMs around the world (though to be sure, only use bank ones, not private ones) and the exchange rate is very close to the wholesale rate (similar, if not better than 28 degrees Mastercard rates in my experience but I use both). I recently used my citibank + 28 degrees card combo all over Europe and the flexibility of making purchases like home was fantastic (i.e. CC and regular ATM withdrawals for small amounts).
In your situation, if you don't have the Citibank Visa Debit Card, I would exchange money here. Besides Bali hotels, I've found currency exchange providers to be a bit of a rip off when traveling, mostly because lack of decent transport options and research. I've found Travel Money Oz do really well for price matching/beating online prices without hassle and have used them on previous trips.
You suddenly thought of this the day before??
Haha yeah pretty much so exchange cash over there?
Exchanging cash is never the best way.
Just get money out from the ATM, especially if you managed to organise a no fee card. If you really must change cash it's nearly always cheaper to do it here.
