  • Is it just me or is the top tier kinda crap? 4 remastered games and a coupon?

    • Yep, they're rubbish.

Also remember you need a US account to download these, not difficult to do by any means, just thought it should be pointed out for some.

    • +2

Top tier is only $4 higher than the average though. $2 each for resident evil and devil may cry seems pretty good to me.

    • Absoloutely not, if you're not a PS4 owner or want to thoroughly 'deck out' your PS3 before parting ways with it, this is legit.

Okami HD is an utterly exceptional game, it's basically Japanime Zelda only better, with amazing amazing graphics even on PS3 (it's rendered at 4k (!) and sampled down)
The DMC trilogy remasters aren't bad considering you can buy the other 3 games for $10 each, meaning all 6 (?) DMC games for $35 + Okami.

That's excluding Resident Evil, not my scene but 2 of those included too.

      • Okami isn't in the top tier.

        • Oh sorry, I get you now.

Devil May Cry trilogy collection can't be purchased for less than $10 btw though and it's not bad, I've finish #1 out of it and #2 - stuck on 3, goddamn hard.

  • Anyone know if you get a single redemption code per game and coupon?

    My bro doesn't play his PS3 anymore but I do… but he'll probably want SF5 code for PS4 where I don't have a PS4.

    • I would imagine the SF5 code would be seperate.

    • +1

I paid $1 and each of the games/coupon was a separate code

      • Thanks for the confirmation dude! Cheers.

  • +1

Nice, Paraguay and Guatemala can use this but Australia can't.

    • That's because they're all tied to the US PSN store I believe.

Australia operates off a different store. As long as you have a PSN account for the US store, you can use the codes on that.

      • Yeah, I understand the policy reasons why, I don't agree with the implementation or the logic behind the reason.

        Global economy, eh?

  • +1

Only thing in the top tier I don't have is Resident Evil Zero, and that doesn't interest me, so I'll be waiting for that average to drop as Okami HD would be pretty sweet.

  • +1

The $1 tier looks pretty sweet. Final Fight and Super Puzzle Fighter is worth it alone for me.

  • Sold my PS3, darn!

    Where's that backwards compatibility Sony?

    • +3

Yeah, it's why I haven't bought a PS4. My PS3 pile of shame is huge. I really have no use for having to pay for the PS4 and PS+ for the privilege of gaming online.

      • I actually have a PS4 and I'm selling it, I'm super annoyed about the Neo thing and my pile of shame is also huge. I have a heap of genuinely awesome PS3 games yet to finish and less and less time as I get older.

I'll buy a PS4 in 4 years, when it's dirt cheap, it's the Neo edition and there's at least 20 exceptionally good games to play, instead of the 3 to 5 amazing games now.

  • So can I just create a second PSN account which is on the USA store, and then these will download to my PS3? Will I need to be logged in to that account to play them in the future or can I switch back to my main to play them?

    • +2

You can switch back to your main to play them.

    • I have AU and US PSN and both are on my PS3 and were on my PS4 too. You can even just install US games to your PS3 and play them on your 'normal' Aussie account.

You either sign in to the US account and download them on the PS3 through the store or just sign in to EN-US PSN store.
      https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-us/free-games/cid=STORE-…
Then you can 'deploy' the game straight to your PS3 through the web.

  • If you ever liked Zelda, Darksiders etc you need to play Okami HD, it's criminally under rated. It has a slow start unfortunately but once you crack about hour 3 and escape the village, holy crap, what an amazing game. It's exceptional - it's rendered at 4k and downsampled on PS3 too, because it's a very good PS2 remaster.

  • Seems really bad for PS4 top tier given the "coupon for 50% off Mega Man Legacy Collection in the PS Store." is basically useless. It's currently 47% off anyway…

  • Now, to see if an Xbox Humble Bundle comes out soon.

YOU DO NOT NEED A PS3 to be able to play the PS3 games, Sony announced that the streaming service PS NOW is coming to PC and MAC, all you need is fast internet, a US PSN account and a dualshock 4 controller:

    http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2016/08/playstation-now-is-coming-…

Not so hot for us in Australia (the fast internet, that is). But it will be doable one day.

    • +2

You do though, since owning a game digitally on the PSN means absolutely nothing for PS Now. PS Now works on a subscription model and any and all previous purchases are entirely irrelevant to the service.

      • yes, you have a point.. I was under the misconception if you 'owned' the game in your PSN account then you could play it in PS Now without a subscription. my mistake.

        • It's kind of shitty tbh, but then again, so is buying Vice City on PS2, then PS3, and then again on PS4, but I did that too.

… I waited til the game was 3 bucks, but I still did it.

        • @TheDukeOfNukem: yes, remasters of classics is a big money pit, but in my opinion it's how Nintendo have been able to stay in business so long. I fully expect the NX to either have full backward compatibility or streaming so Nintendo can re-sell their back catalogue to us again.

        • @gizmomelb: Not gonna lie, for every 10 games I play on my Wii U, literally every one is a Game Cube game.

10/10 if NX is either a portable or backward compatible (or both) I'll grab it, if it's neither of those, I'll wait and see.

  • Not owning a PS3, only a PS4 its $15 for 3 games.

Two of those games are remasters of Resident Evil.

    • +1

Strider is 10/10 a fantastic arcade slashy do.

  • If anyone has spare Okami key because they already own it or don't want it I'd be happy to swap keys from the Nintendo bundle.

I've got Affordable Space Adventures, Retro City Rampage: DX and Shantae and the Pirate's Curse on both 3DS and Wii U if anyone is interested.
