Seems cheap enough for a new game :) Has had mixed reviews on consoles, but I'm sure it'll look pretty for all the 1080 buyers recently!

Anyone finish this? How would they rate it vs a.wake?

I got an hour through it. It's got puzzles which I was not in the mood for during mid-semester at uni.

The story was good for what I saw. The gun combat (pre-time powers) was very, very stale.

        Did you beat Alan wake?

Haven't played it yet. But I got it free with Quantum Break haha.

Playing at the moment on Xbone. You get the powers pretty quickly but I don't notice the difference with the upgrades so much. I wouldn't say there are puzzles insomuch as situations in which you have to think a little bit harder than your conventional shooter. I like the "choose your own adventure" aspect, but not sure how different the choices make to the outcome of the game yet cos I haven't finished it yet. I like the TV show-like inserts too. It's quite a unique game, and well worth the buy just to experience the unique gameplay.

Yeah I finished both. I loved Alan Wake but Quantum Break was so-so.

AW's flashlight+shooting gameplay felt a lot tighter than QB and I think that's because QB tries to implement too much and didn't polish it enough. I should probably note that QB performed rather terribly even on my 980ti when it first came out on PC. However, I've heard that they've since fixed it.

I preferred QB's story over AW's but I suppose it's just personal preference. Not going to spoil anything because it's the highlight of the entire game (QB) IMO.

$34 AUD might be a bit steep though especially since I paid less than $30 at the W10 release. If you're looking for value, you should note that there isn't much replayability in QB. AW at least had American Nightmare which had an arcade mode.

Also expect to download 70GB of data for QB. There are live action cutscenes between chapters but they can only be streamed on PC and not downloaded like on console. On my shoddy ADSL internet, the stream was stuttery and pixelated. Not sure if they've let people download this with the Steam release.

      • American Nightmare came out later on as a stand-alone. I bought Alan Wake CE on launch day and loved every minute of it, plus the Writer DLC too.

Guess I'll hold out on QB for a bit then, maybe it will be in a humble bundle next year! =)
