I find the Old Gold bland like eating a slab of tasteless plastic. Perhaps my tastebuds have changed or has the ingredients changed over time?

"don't waste your money"Agree, it is awful stuff. However both Woolies & Coles have dropped the far superior Nestle Club Original, which I often bought when on special. Would not buy Old Gold under any circumstances.
EDIT: Not the only one missing the 'Club'
I swear they've changed their recipes recently - not too long ago I remember the Dairy Milk had a lovely melt to it and now the mouthfeel is unpleasant.
Used to be good. Mouth feel butternesss definitely changed. Soon you'll have the foul smell that emanates from American chocolate…which feels like the way it's heading.
And this is from someone who is fine with lindt dark 85-90%.
Old Gold shows up on their site as $2.50 so must be nation wide.

Doesn't look like it goes under $2.50 at Colesworths so good deal.
Half Price $2.50
That is a lie
Normal price is $3.50, discount is 29%

You are lyeing, the normal price instore is $5.00. No matter what info graphic you have used to back your claim, I buy this product almost weekly and the instore regular price is 100% $5.00.
the normal price instore is $5.00.
Nope, it's $3.50…

It's only been $5 for about 4 weeks in the last 4 months… $5 is hardly the normal price…
Again, $5.00 is the normal price, The $3.50 your info graphic is referring to is a PROMOTIONAL price, the NORMAL price has been $4.99/$5.00 all year. Maybe I can make the words normal and promotional in bold, that might help you understand them better?
Again, $5.00 is the normal price
On what basis? that they sell it at $5 for 20% of the time ???
The normal price is the price it is normally sold for, and for the past 4 months, that has been $3.50
$25/kg for Cadbury chocolate is not normal. If they kept it at the price even half the time, they'd go out of business.
@jv:
Does it actually matter whether the more common price is $5 or $3.50. The point is that it is $2.50 now.
I agree, recommended retail isn't necessarily the standard price.
$5 for 200g of chocolate is a complete rip off anyway. Doesn't sound "normal" to me, compared to $3.50.Thanks Sage, about thyme someone here spoke some sense…
$5 isn't the recommended retail price its the ACTUAL everyday price at woolies when NOT on promotion.
its the ACTUAL everyday price at woolies
Not at our Woolies, I rarely see it for $5…
$5 is the 'special' rip-off price, not the normal price.
While not strictly true according to RRP, I agree with your point.
If people don't notice peristent or cyclical marketing trends at our supermarket duopolies they're probably not budget-conscious. Tim Tams are a prime example. At Coles a single pack retails at $4 but it's simply a marketing strategy. Coles has been doing those 2 for $5 deals for so long that they've stuck with it, while Woolworths alternates between a lower starting retail price and a range of reduced prices. The fact IGA has cheaper Tim Tams than Coles is evidence enough.
I like the lamington one for $2.50
Thank you OP.
50% off (or even 29% - Jesus wept) sounds like a bargain to me.
big w selling it for $2.47
I saw that today- or $2.34 if purchased with the 5.25% off Woolies e-gift card!
Stnrage how it's only being mentioned today when I saw em last Thursday (WA) for $2.47 at Big W. Grabbed 6 BTW :)
New specials generally begin on a Wednesday?
Tasty but too much sugar content
Something has happened to the taste of Cadbury 'Old Gold' dark chocolate. It used to be very good, but I purchased some at BigW this week and the flavour is strange. It tastes like cheap chocolate without a smooth texture. There's more emphasis on sugar and it has a slightly chalky feel. ALDI's dark Choceur is far superior in flavour and texture and sells at $2.49 every day.
I want to support the Australian made product, but it usually sells for $4.50 per block and is inferior in quality.
Perhaps Cadbury needs to concentrate more on product development and quality, and spend less effort trying to get taxpayer money.
Someone mentioned this in TA's post but they didn't get a million up votes
I still like the OG Rum and Raisin, but I agree Cadbury Chocolate has changed over time, recipe tweaking much?
All of the Cadbury Blocks (approximately 200gms) are on sale at that price at the moment.
