Hi OzB community !
Tied up between whether to gift a iPhone 6s 64gb or OPPO R9 Plus for my mother- she's currently using a Galaxy S4 after her Xperia Ultra stopped functioning.
Regardless of difference in size, which one would you choose?
iPhone 6S 64gb -$800
Oppo R9 Plus- $670
Obviously there's the contrast between Android and iOs however I'm here to gauge some opinions from the wider community as I am obviously indecisive.

May i ask why you disliked your experience with the Oppo ? (understandably the difference of one generation) but go on..
It had an OS that was quite foreign to me - and I have always used android. It killed off a lot of stuff I had running in the background that Samsung never killed. It was almost impossible to keep these apps running, despite messing with settings, etc. The only thing I really liked about it was the built in firewall, so you could block apps from reaching add servers :) Hard to put my finger on it, but one day it crashed (after only 6 months) and I decided to get a new phone rather than muck around with the oppo and reset it to factory settings. Compared to the Samsung I also found it laggy - which is understandable at that price point. I now use it as a music player and alarm clock :)
As an Android person, I would go iPhone; much easier for older folk to grasp.
Yep.
Not only that…. iPhones do make for much better gifts.
People in general see Apple devices as superior, so they feel its better.
If you have to go Android, then people only value the latest Nexus.
Or the latest Samsung flagships (S7/Edge/Note) that are deemed luxurious.
They don't really value HTC, LG, SONY, Moto, Asus, Huawei, ZTE, Oppo, OnePlus, Xaiomi, Meizu, TCL.
Nor do they value Windows Phone/Lumia devices.
They can be seemed as tacky.
Get her an android shes used to it. but go for a samsung galaxy s6 or s7 over an oppo
while iphone IS easy to use it's just as hard to trade one experience (Android) for another (IOS) as it is to have never used a smartphone and decide to learn one of the two.
I say this as the one who decides what phone and tablet to get for my mother when she upgrades.
well i used to till she refused an ipad air 2 to get a samsung galaxy tab s2 lol

I am very much an android person, and I have owned an oppo r7. I disliked it so much that I upgraded to a Samsung S7.
I think its a personal choice - iphone/android, but given the option of an iphone 6 or an oppo, I would go iphone.
I use an iphone 6 for work, so have a fairly good understanding of the OS.
