Card For Buying Goods in a Foreign Currency

Hi all,

May be a little bit of a basic question, but I was wondering if this card here:

Coles Reloadable Mastercard

is the equivalent of the 28 Degrees card?

I have the same query for the Citibank Plus card I have. Looking at the policy, it says a 2.5% international transfer fee. But others have stated that there is no exchange fee when purchases goods in a different currency online.

Basically, I'm looking for an alternative that is not Bankwest, and there appears to be many different types of Coles Mastercards. The PDS says a 3% charge, but some comments on whirlpool/previous OzB deals suggest otherwise. Can anyone clarify?

Thanks

If you have the citibank plus account/card then you should just use that as it is fee free. The policy you looked at encompasses all accounts and where it comes to international payments it says "Excludes Citibank Plus Transaction and Citibank Online Saver Accounts".

As for the coles one the card costs $10 and the fee free currency conversion is only for up until the end of the year.

You are probably thinking of the Coles Rewards Mastercard which has no international transaction fees. But it has an annual fee of $89. And it allows you to collect 2 FlyBuy points for every $ spent.

The Citibank Plus account description clearly says:

    • Pay $0 Citibank fees for any overseas ATM or in-store transactions

    • Fee-free international money transfers to any bank, anywhere

Hope the above clarifies things somewhat.
