I'm a bit wary of LG phones now after all the talk of poor quality control.

  • +1

2nd sim only support 2G which going to be disable at the end of rhis year.

    • Voda is keeping theirs…. for now

    • Use it for the micro SD card instead.

      • what? so this phone can take 2 micro SD?

        • The second sim is also the micro SD slot. You get one or the other. Or you try to squeeze in both, which seems to work for some adventurous sorts.

  • +3

Battery is a bit weak with this kind of screen resolution.
If it drops to 400 I might consider.

    • AGREE 2K SCREEN RESOLUTION WITH 2800MAH

Just told this morning that the LG G4 that I dropped off at JB HiFi for warranty repair is still waiting for a motherboard and that LG had not given JB a timeframe on when it would come in. The matter is escalated to regional manager as of this morning. Early last week I was told by the repairer that the part was in and was scheduled for a tech to work on it late last week. In other words I'm being given the run around, and LG Aus either doesn't have motherboards left to supply to repairers or gives at least some of the repairers the run around for their previous flagship phone.

Never touching an LG again and depending on how this is resolved may not be buying any major items from JB HiFi. This is the 2nd LG G4 I had both WIFI and Bluetooth die on. The first one died in about 2 months and was replaced with a new unit by JB HiFi as it was under 90 days. The second unit worked for about 6 months before developing the same fault. It's not just the boot loop issue that can hit you. It's not just grey items that can leave you high and dry. I'm not looking forward to the likelihood of having to chase this through Fair Trading. Done that before and it's a pain in the rear.

    • Didn't LG make some of the Google phones? We don't seem to hear about problems for them. My G4 is fine. Still.

      • +2

It's a great phone when it works. But it's no use to me sitting in a repair shop gathering dust. There are over 306 pages of comments on the G4 on the whirlpool forum. Most of them discussing boot loops and dealing with Ebay grey market warranty repair. Good to hear yours is still working. I sincerely hope at least some people don't go through that.

To be honest if this is how it is I'm done with spending big money on a phone.

      • My G4 died, my Nexus 5X died within a day of getting it… either I'm cursed or LG has some issues (maybe the curse…)

        • their chef designed G4, thats why

      • Mine as well, however I'm worried everyday as the warranty has expired.

    • +1

Comments like this is what makes me stay away from LG despite it's great prices.

Keeping an eye out for a cheap s7 or s7 edge missed the one today unfortunately.

    • Why go through the pain? You should have just asked for a refund. Its your choice. Its the law. Then just buy another new one.

      • -1

It's only a choice to refund if they deem it a major fault. The criteria for major fault is pretty difficult to meet. It basically has to be unsafe. Nonetheless if I don't have a satisfactory answer by the end of the day today I will be putting in a complaint with Fair Trading NSW.

    • they should just replace one for you

  • Good to see it is coming down in price. Due to get dad a new one for his birthday to replace his G3 in Jan.. Hopefully be under $500 for local stock by then

  • Anyone buying a phone from a non-aussie company is nuts. Warranty is a pain in the ass. If you get it all.
Better off buying from someone like kogan. They operate under our consumer law. At least you can get a refund when it breaks within 2 years…and trust me, it will break.

    • +3

agree…LG is high risk. will not touch it again. they shoot themselves in the foot with their poor lg warranty cover

    • My G4 was sent back 3 times. Once it died, twice the camera malfunctioned.
I was very impressed by Kogan who give free post to Aus address and handled everything well. Got store credit after third time and got an S7 Edge!

      • Seems Kogan gives better service than QD-AU.
        Which seems surprising…..

        Positive outcome.

        • qd_au are attrocious! I got an email saying "It's been fixed, what's your address" then it took them two weeks to get it sent. I think it's coming via FedEx as I got a tracking number from TWN but who knows! QD take >week to reply to emails!

        • @downforce: I put the return address in the package I sent to them - hopefully that'll cut out delays but my confidence is pretty low

        • @Cooties: Haha, I put it on the parcel, on a letter, message twice via eBay and they still screwed it up.

I tell ya, never buying grey imports again! The run-around just aint worth it!

        • @downforce: Yep after my grey import Nexus 5X died within 6 hours of getting it (to replace my G4 while its off for repairs) I'm starting to get fed up with the whole thing

        • @downforce: did you get this resolved now?

        • @mrbillions: yes! Got my phone back yesterday, they shipped it directly from LG in TWN via FedEx.

Amazingly it's my exact phone, same backplate (with Logitech magnet I forgot to remove) and dent in the corner. They did remove the screen protector though.

They threw in a spare battery + spare battery charger, which is quite cool. I assume that was LG rather than QD.

QDs communication is still woeful! They are still sending me the "DHL tracking number”.

Wow, only 8 plus votes. Looks like G4 bootloop issue has killed people's confidence in LG phones.

    • Or maybe because most of the people got it for ~$485 from the ebay sale last week?

    • Try a flaky LG Nexus 5 with horrid memory leaks and woeful GPS accuracy;
Try 2x LG G3's with dodgy proximity sensors
Try a LG G4 with boot loop issues!

And recently my LG G Watch has stopped charging properly too, but this could be an age thing.

      • Damn, that is a bad run with LG….I'm suprised you have stuck with them. My G4 is still going OK, but could die any second I guess? G4 is a pretty good phone but I still preferred the user inetrface and feel of my HTC One M8….but the camera was not that good. Hoping to get HTC 10 when it drops in price….

        • Functionally, I love the LG G4, easily the best phone I've owned yet. Just the LG QC seems to be lacking! Although I think from now on, I'm only going to buy last gen phones with these issues fixed!

  • +2

What are the chances that qd_au sold all the reject lg g4 pbones last year that LG could not sell to abyone else due to a known fault?

In other words there were known issues with the g4 and LG sold it to qd_au to dump somehwere?

I even bought the lg h818p dual sim (qd were selling the lg h815 last year on en masse) and that broke down in 2 weeks too. It is now with ebay seller perfect mission under refund review but i dont like my chances with them.

Like most of you, Im done with LG phones. Espeically after reading @syousef s post. Hopefully someone from LG reads this.

    no stock

  • I must be so lucky then. Never had a problem with my G4 and I've had it for almost a year now. Works flawlessly, superb camera.

    • I am wondering is it they have fixed it in newer batch?

I recommended it to two peoples both OK so far.
