How Can I Find Super Cheap Flights (No Timeframe Or Destination In Mind)

I have heard a few people saying how they got super cheap flights, like $1 (+ baggage) from Sydney to Gold Coast and things like that.

I don't have any time frames or anything but I would love to see cheap deals like that so if I see one I like, I can just quickly plan a short holiday.

I mean, $50 for a flight somewhere means its nothing crazy expensive and I could probably do a weekend somewhere to relax.

Flights at $1 would be very rare promos and them being advertised (and securing tickets) are quite different things.

Anyhow, a site like https://www.skyscanner.com.au/ or http://adioso.com/ allows you search from your Local Airport to "Everywhere" or "Domestic"

Usually the first people to hear about the $1 airfare promotions are the people who frequently check the FacebBook pages of each airline.

An airline's Facebook page is first place for the promotion to appear, then its the people on the airline's email list a few days later. By the time you read the email from your InBox probably 75% of the $1 seats are sold and you have to rush to book online for the few left over 5am midweek flights.

$1 sounds cheap but that's if you don't put a dollar value on your time spent every day to check 30 Airline Facebook pages, read through nonsense and advertising. For a promotion that might come around once or twice a year.

I remember in the old days of Thursday promotions, lunch promotions. People checking the airline website two times a day, not knowing if a website got update with their random promotion during the morning or late at night.

    subscribe to keywords on ozbargain.
subscribe to tiger, jetstar, airasia, scoot, etc emails.
make sure you are registered on those websites for faster purchases.
have a debit mastercard handy, and a foreign-fee-free card like 28degrees ready for internationals.

    wait.
    pounce.

    • This. I went to Thailand for $180 return last Nov. Going to Bali in January for $200 return.

But you have to be patient and willing to book a few months in advance.

With Skyscanner, I can never find the headline low fare suggested in the email. Is there a particular way to search for low fares?
