I can't answer you as I haven't had a Dyson but from all my readings, there had been more suggestions for Miele over Dyson. I am forever a Miele fan, so I might be biased however ;)
just based on price
Miele requires bags which arent cheap, so you need to factor that into ithttp://www.harveynorman.com.au/catalogsearch/result/?q=miele…
I am very aware of the fact that this vacuum cleaner requires a bag, which is what I would choose any day over any bagless vacuum cleaner. Any day. Insert horrifying video of people trying to empty dust from a bagless vacuum cleaner- I haven't heard a single pleasant experience.
Also Miele bag can last for months before you need to change it over :)
According to the reviews, a box of 4 filter bags last a year.
Obviously these researcher don't have a black labrador at home….3 bags every 2 months for me and a carbon filter every 4 months. Bought my Miele in 2008, still going strong.
@zoner: a damn good endorsement in anybody's books - certainly given the durability of the machine considering the workload over time.
Bags/filters may be a little expensive, but clearly - the vacuum is doing just what you need and want it to do. Did you get the 'dog and cat' version perhaps?@Chris Farley: yep….also served as a wet&dry vacuum when the father in-law used it once, blew some fuses in the house but after drying it in the sun for a couple of days it worked again.
disclaimer: do not use this as a wet dry vacuum!!!@zoner: Thanks for your comments. I'm looking at YT reviews now, as PW below said…
'looks pretty good'.
Regards and thanks again.
Lots of generic bags can be bought on ebay I can't tell makes a difference from the original.
There is a difference.
Try to negotiate a deal on a couple of boxes of bags with the vacuum purchase… there is a high mark up on them.
The youtude review looks pretty good.
I have C3 and Dyson DS59Animal and DS54.
I think Miele does better job.
Look at that, another vote for Miele :D
Did I just get a neg vote from a Dyson fan?
Yes you did. ;)
/me is tempted but want to wait for the c3
You can get miele c3 range for just a bit more. Its better than c2.
Got link for me?
Wait for another ebay 20% sale… they happen all the time .. the c3 goes from 400 to 320.
Sweet. I just saw the EBAY 20% off coupon deal posted just now. Can you share some links of C3 being down to 320?
Yes hippyhippy, I will be the first person to upvote you IF you have any current sale going for C3. If you don't, then……
Is this the same on ebay? $289.00.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Miele-Complete-C2-Celebration-Pow…I believe that is the celebration range, this one is a compact. Please correct me if I'm wrong though…
This is the model I posted here from their actual website:
http://www.mieleshop.com.au/compact-c2-hard-floor-vacuum-cle…This is probably another Miele vac closest to the model I posted here:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Miele-Compact-C2-PowerLine-Vacuum…This one is probably the same exact model:

Sooo does hard floor mean this works better on hardwood floor boards than carpet or something else entirely?
no apparently not. I just online chatted with Miele consultant who said they all have fittings for both. Asked her if they'd price match Myer. Couldn't get a straight answer out of her. She referred me to customer service with ph number etc. I said would rather buy from Myer with less hassle then!
If I am not mistaken (and I probably am) the wattage might be a wee bit lower for the hardwood models.
We have the Miele Cat and Dog vacuum, and Mrs StingyBritches reckons it's the best vacuum cleaner she has even used.
Purchased thank you
Go miele, got one previously with MYER having sale (also managed to get the salesperson to chuck in a free box of bags). Got the basic C3 comfortline or something (without powerbrush and other attachments). Best vacuum owned, surprisingly quiet! powerful, and 2 months on, check the bag, its not even half full, we vacuum probably 6 times since purchase (avg once a week or two).
Miele over Dyson any day. Have 2 dogs, the Dyson Animal couldn't properly clean carpets and mats. Did bit of research and got the C3 and it works wonders. Since then have moved to a house with no carpets, and the Miele still does an awesome job. The Dyson went into the Gumtree bin.
I've had a Miele for the past 18months, and it craps all over our Dyson. The Dyson used to slow down when it sucked up a tissue, my Miele sucked up a FACE TOWEL and didn't even slow down!
Don't forget Dyson cost 2-3 times more.
This says its a Hard floor vacuum cleaner.
Does that mean it doesn't work well on carpet, or that it just works well on hard floors as well.Bought a C1 Powerline (German) the other day. Pretty strong vacuum.
Cost $240 delivered from AppliancesOnline on ebay. ($267 less 10% code)
The C2 at Appliancesonline is $457.
https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/miele-compact-c2-hardflo…
Yes, so buy the C1 for c. $200 less
There's a reason why there are different models (i.e. C1, C2, C3). They perform differently. The different prices are a reflection of that. Buying C1, yes, costs a lot less, but you'd also get a less powerful vacuum cleaner. As simple as that.
This is only $262 on the Myer eBay store if used in conjunction with the CART15 discount code promotion at the moment. This works with the free delivery too even though it's a click n collect promo.
Coupon invalid…
How do these compare to the oft-posted Dyson range?
