Thanks OP, Koonunga for $8 delivered is good for a weekday wine. Only $10 at Dans but none near me. Liquorland is $16!

Glad I could help, will keep updating list when I find more bargains :)

  • Any decent pinot noirs?

  • Belvedere, Hendricks, Sipsmith all cheaper or as cheap at Dan Murphy's…

  • I've bought from gooddrop before via eBay and the site and they had a great range on whisky, but the range is shrinking and the prices have just gone way up. eBay prices are even worse so it basically is only free shipping

    Eg Highland park eBay $92, with 20% = $73.60. Website = $72 + $9 ship (if <$300), Dans everyday price = $75.

i've bought a case of these previously and enjoyed them

Heredad de Baroja Cuvee Especial 2014 (6 x 750mL), Spain- $38.35 WITH CODE: CELLAR
Heredad de Baroja Crianza Rioja 2012 (6 x 750mL), Spain. - $47.95 WITH CODE: CELLAR

a merlotesque softness with a touch of shiraz ending. (if that makes sense)

  • Good buying for the Jacob Creek Classic range in either Chardonnay/Sauv Blanc or Shiraz.

    Comes down $67.68 for a 12 pack or only $5.64 a bottle.

  • Anyone ordered that Mystery Adelaide Hills Chardonnay 2014 6 for $84? Wonder what wine it is!

  • Which one should I buy to get the lowest price per 1 gram of ethyl alcohol?

    • This one will help put out the fire after your petrol fuelled extravaganza is complete ;)

the Nikka Black Clear Blend Japanese Blended Whisky 700ml for $99.99 (pre discount) @ boutiquecellar.

this sells for ~800yen ($10) in Japanese supermarkets

    • yeah the Boutiquecellar place is a bit OP, I guess their target audience isn't money crunching Ozbargainers haha

    • You have to wonder why the Japanese don't have a drinking problem but we do as a nation.

Alcohol and drinking is interesting in Japan. there is a drinking problem in Japan but the numbers are lower than in Australia. but there is a different attitude to drinking as well. also quite a few Japanese people (around 30%) can't drink because they lack the enzyme(?) to break down the alcohol -Alcohol flush reaction. There can be a strong pressure to drink at work functions (so you fit in as part of the team). Public drunkenness is acceptable to a point. Office Workers can be absolutely sh!tfaced on the train at night and people will accept that (as long as they are not loud or violent or vomiting every where). It's seen as "releasing the tension" of work. Being hungover at work in is acceptable (occasionally, not everyday) - they see it as "alright?, yeah, had a few drinks last night mate, nice one". When it is cherry blossom season you can see some absolutely ridiculous behaviour in public parks from drunk Japanese people - sometimes funny, sometimes truly cringeworthy. there is a zero Blood alcohol limit for driving, so that is a good deterrent as well. Japanese culture doesn't have the "drink till ya smashed" mindset seen here in Aus. I lived there and would often go to bars or restaurants where they had "nomihodai" which is a Japanese all-you-can-drink custom. I remember paying 1500yen (~AU$20) for 2 hours of limitless drinks. Now, my Japanese friends would have 3 or 4 drinks in that time. I, as an Australian and Ozbargain tight arse, would be well on the way to drunkenness by the end. Not to say that my Japanese friends didn't get drunk but it was a more civilised/restrained progression. I can't say this (my) perspective is 100% accurate as I only lived in 2 areas and Japanese culture varies across the nation- though I have a degree in sociology so I have that "academic" insight in-combination with my 4 years of Japanese life.

        • Thanks for the amazing insight you've given us, nomihodai would never fly here! A fun fact I remember is that if you're a Japanese salaryman and you're having a company drinks night, it's acceptable, maybe even preferred to come home drunk to your wife!

  • Teusner Bilmore 2014 is cheap and very good, in the 6 pack (but not the 12 pack)
