GPS Tracker for securing luggage during overseas travel

Hi,

Not sure if this should be part of Travel or Electronics forum, so kindly excuse. I need advice securing expensive luggage during international travel with a small/portable GPS tracker. Any with any experience (brand and model) with such device. I am not looking for the one which comes with Bluetooth (range is limited) or GPRS.

Since I would be travelling a lot, I might keep my big luggage in a Storage. All I need to be sure that my luggage is not moved. Not sure about active/passive tracking (not too technical guy).

    You are going to need at least a sim card tracker to be able to track your luggage
    there are a couple of subscription based tracker boxes you can use although I am not sure how you will go with flight mode running a radio device from the plane
    be aware too, the sim card trackers are only good for your luggage on the ground within reach of towers

    Apart from a 2g/3g tracker there is nothing else that will perform this task for you easily

    Active will be a device tracking constantly, remember the device will need power to run
    Passive would be more like a Low power bluetooth 4.0 tracker tile / luggage buddy that alerts when in range

    Would we need is a flight aware tracker that also has a low power mode, adjusting frequency of location transmission based on speed. That would be a great kick starter.
    Maybe throw in a light sensor and basic cam sending snaps of a potential thug when luggage is opened.

    After doing my research, decided to go with shawncro 222's suggestion of sim based gps tracker, nothing fancy around $20 from ebay. Will post my experience.
