Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe Dual 64GB (Gray, Silver, Gold) (ZS570KL) Unlocked AUD $737 @ Android Enjoyed

Before everyone starts going on about how crap this mob is, I would like to get everyone's opinion on this phone and whether they would buy it. I have been watching this since it was announced back in May and IMO this is on par with the Note7. What do you think?

This phone supports B28(700) as well.

Asus ZenFone 3 Deluxe Dual 64GB 4G LTE Titanium Gray (ZS570KL) Unlocked

The Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe is being touted as the world's first full-metal unibody phone with an invisible antenna design. It measures 156.4 x 77.4 x 7.5 mm, which doesn't make it as thin as the Nexus 6P (7.3mm thin). The power button and volume rocker are now on the right side (instead on of the back), but there's an oddly shaped rectangular fingerprint sensor on back. You don't actually press it in. There's still capacitive soft buttons for home, back and recent on the front. Like a lot of phones in 2016, it pivots to USB Type-C, sticks with one speaker. It has a spacious 5.7-inch screen. Its large Super AMOLED panel takes on a 79% screen-to-body ratio. That means less bezel on the sides and more screen space to work with. The capacitive buttons on the bottom do eat into significant screen space.

The Asus-themed Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system and the Android Nougat update, whenever that comes.
It is also future-proofed with the newest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and embedded Adreno 530 graphics chip.
Megapixels with a 23MP Sony IMX318 sensor for a camera.

Determined. Desirable. Distinguished.

Every intricate detail of ZenFone 3 Deluxe determines what it is. A desirable meld of art and science that accords you an untouchable level of distinction. A smartphone where craftsmanship and technical brilliance combine to create a sleek, all-metal outlook with an antenna that’s not merely discreet — it’s entirely invisible. And then you look inside to find a 23MP camera with TriTech auto-focus and 6GB of memory. ZenFone 3 Deluxe is as determined, desirable and as distinguished for those able to acquire it. ZenFone 3 Deluxe is your next ambition.

Beauty

The all-metal miracle with invisible antenna
Every smartphone needs antennas but radio waves won’t pass through metal — that’s why so many smartphones designs are marred by ugly gaps. But not ZenFone 3 Deluxe. Our world-class engineers’ pursuit of perfection and technical prowess ascend a new pinnacle with ZenFone 3 Deluxe, integrating the antennas in such a way as to make them invisible. The result is gapless beauty and uncompromised signal quality. A curved, diamond-cut wonder with an all-metal unibody that seems impossible — that’s ZenFone 3 Deluxe.

Display

So much screen, so much reality

The display’s barely-there 1.3mm bezel gives a huge screen-to-body ratio of 79%, for a vast view in a smaller space. And with always-on technology, the screen keeps vital information in constant view for whenever you need it — without waking up the whole display.

wow… did not expect that much for asus, oneplus 3 is much better in looks and performance…

    • +2

The call to fame for the Zenfone 3 deluxe is it is the first Snapdragon 821 SoC phone on the market, which is supposedly 10% faster than the 820 currently used in all other flagship phones. The Zenfone 3 deluxe also has a variant with a 256gb UFS 2.0 storage, again class leading.

The specs for this range is fantastic. Whether it lives up to the spec sheet, or the price, is another question.

      • +1

any time I hear the words 'class leading' or 'cutting edge' all I hear is 'diminishing returns'

      • I had the original Zenfone 2. Stay far far away.

  • -4

FHD(1920x1080) on 5.7" screen?!? There is no reason a phone at this price shouldnt be QHD

    • +5

FHD screens will give you better battery life compared to QHD.

      • +4

Fair call. I dock my phone each night so not really a concern for me

I also dont play Pokemon Go LOL! :-)

      • That myth needs to die. Especially on AMOLED panels, that just isn't true, EXCEPT in games, where the GPU is really pushed.

        • -1

Less pixels = better performance and better battery economy. Furthermore, I think you'd struggle to point out a reasonable difference in quality between 1080p and 4k on a 5.7" screen given it goes past the physics of an eye.

        • @bchliu: Less pixels does not necessarily mean better performance, nor better battery life. QHD Samsung AMOLED panels actually use less power than their old 1080p panels, because that's where they put all their manufacturing effort.

The GPUs in these phones absolutely eat through 2560x1440, so they aren't heating up, or clocking up any more, so no performance gains.

On these AMOLED panels like the Zenfone 3 Deluxe uses, 1080p vs 1440p is night and day, due to the pentile matrix.

        • +1

@deanylev: On an equivalent scale - with the same GPU, a 720p, 1080p or 4k screen - which screen will require it to work harder? You have more pixels to refresh, more VRAM to write to, more things to move on the screen. Its not about fobbing it off as "GPUs in these phones absolutely eat through.." but about simple physics and logic to know it will take more work and effort to do this.

        • @bchliu:
          Exactly.

Last-gen 1080p SAMOLED would be worse than Current-gen 1440p SAMOLED in terms of battery life.
But if you had Current-gen 1080p display… that would be better than Current-gen 1440p in battery life.

Or with current-gen… you could have both 1080p and 1440p use equal battery life, but be able to give the 1080p more frequent/faster refresh rates or brightness.

I personally don't see much gain in 1440p, unless you want to use VR.
And that is why Samsung doesn't produce any 1080p displays on their current-gen SAMOLED fabs.
1440p lets them be at the forefront of VR, and give their devices a checklist to fulfill.
It also helps keep in-line with certain competitors (LG), whilst eclipsing other competitors (Apple).

I think this argument will become a moot point in the coming years as (Processors, Screens, and Batteries) continue to increase in performance and battery life. The divide between 1440p and 1080p will become quite meaningless.

    • +3

Really? I have a 6.4" Z Ultra and never found the screen being only 1080p an issue.

      • +1

I never said I had an issue with 1080p. My comment was that at that price point one would expect it

Also I moved to QHD when I got my LG G3 a few years back and I cant go back and I can get nearly 2 days on my Nexus 6P so better battery life not really a concern for me.

        • 1080p is plenty, but at this price point all the other players are going higher. Looks like more of a cost cutting measure than a battery saving one.

    • I have a Nexus 10 and a nexus 6 which are 2560 x 1600 and 2560 x 1440 pixel screens respectively. If I wasn't an Ozbargainer, I'd consider dumping my perfectly adequate TVs for a 60" 4k one so I can slimport/HMDI to it to stand a foot away to try to spot a pixel…

Good luck to anyone doing business with android enjoyed. I have no doubt they are the cheapest advertised price for the handset as they seem to undercut every other grey importer on most handsets but boy do people seem to have a hard time actually dealing with them, I would be very wary just search previous deals here or on whirlpool or on product review, theres even a few facebook pages warning people about them

  • -1

comeon, why would you shop at a store named android enjoyed but they sell apple products too?

  • +1

    flagship price for none flagship

    • -1

but note 7 $1200 people jumped and preorder?

      • -1

Yes, because Note 7 is actually flagship and has the best possible hardware and perhaps the best software too.

        • -2

But touchwiz simply ruined everything and always make Samsung the slowest flagship against their competitors in EVERY YEAR:

S4 well known as its slowness against HTC M7
S5 as lag as its Korean opponent LG G3 and got beaten by Sony, HTC again
S6 slowest again despite using the best hardware in the year
S7 again sits at the bottom and beaten by HTC 10,Sony XP

And not to mention Samsung is becoming more and more unfriendly about phone root and the community support of AOSP rom is getting worse.

        • -2

          @claud0902:

Sorry to break this to you but,

Touchwiz on Note 7 or now branded as Grace UX is awesome.

It is light and packed with more features than stock Android. The memory management is well designed too.
Therefore Note 7 probably does not even to be rooted and installed a unstable custom ROM.

S4, S5, S6 and S7 were all class leaders on their own rights and outsold all phones that you mentioned.

It seems like you hold personal grudge against Samsung, but let's face it - they have made probably the best phone for each generation and loved(=sold) because of that.

        • @motor89:

No I am not against Samsung but a Samsung user. I have no issue with the camera quality and the industry leading screen. I never said Samsung flagships are crap but I honestly admit they are always at the bottom in terms of smooth and speed.

I owned/own note 2, note 4, s4, s6e and tab s2 (almost get s7 but changed mind because of the absence of IR Blaster). But I also had/have htc m7, nexus 5, LG G3 and nexus 6p.

To me, there is no perfect phone, I have to compromise by either choosing Samsung or Nexus. But obviously my main reason of choosing Samsung is their hardware feature & functionality (soc, camera, screen, wireless charge, ufs storage and IR blaster etc) and never to be their software. So I do not agree with you on anything about awesome feature about their skin/UI. No, I have my own solution for my required features.

        • -1

          @claud0902:

No I am not against Samsung but a Samsung user

Why are you against millions of happy Samsung users? You aren't making any sense.

they are always at the bottom in terms of smooth and speed

Sorry to say this but that's like your opinion. In reality, they have all outsold and beaten all phones you have mentioned.

          never to be their software

Then now you have a new reason to consider S7/Note 7 over other phones since the software is now actually good. Touchwiz is light and packed with more features whether you like them or not. You are welcome to disagree with me, though.

My current phones are HTC M8 and iphone5s. I have owned a lot of different phones before and let's be honest with you, I have experienced crashes and slow down with all Android phones at some points. Samsung has been the most problem-free. HTC has been the worst and Sony(Ericsson) comes second.

However, I won't go on bashing all HTC and Sony flagships purely based on my experience. After all, the free market will decide whether those companies are wanted or not.

        • @motor89: Sorry if my opinion makes you feel not happy. Why do you keep mention SALEs but I am actually talking about speed. Nexus is always fastest android but it NEVER outsell any major android vendor. Again back to my opinion, Samsung is slowest flagship compare to their competitors. I am not talking about other factors but smooth and speed.

If you are saying the software on S7 is good or better than stock android, I think we do not need keep discussing this topic and we totally hold different opinion.

        • -4

@claud0902: I don't understand why do you think you have made me feel unhappy?

Speed of Galaxy S series has been the best thus it has been greatly appreciated by the market. Or did I hit your nerve over there with a successful sales record of Galaxy S series?

          Nexus is always fastest

Hmm…it looks like your fanboyism is showing up here.

Were Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, Nexus 5 and Nexus 6 the fastest android? No they weren't.

Nexus has been never meant to be the fastest phone and it will always be just a reference phone.

          smooth and speed

S4, S5, S6 and S7 have beaten their competitions in terms of speed and smoothness. That's why they have beaten and outsold others.

You are entitled to have a different opinion so do I.

However, I reckon your claim on "Nexus is always fastest Android" basically proves that how utterly you are out of touch with reality and you have no sense of objectivity. Thus it invalidates pretty much everything you have said.

        • +1

          @motor89:

S4, S5, S6 and S7 have beaten their competitions in terms of speed

S7 maybe, but S4 S5 and S6 are faster than the competition? I think I'm laughing my ass off. The htc's and iPhones were always the fastest prior S7. Great marketing is why Samsungs sell well, definitely not speed. I ditched my note 4 soon after buying it as it was horribly slow. No one I know that owns a Samsung phone praises the speed either.

I hate the nexus phones but let's be honest here, you're just a Samsung fanboy. Samsung phones prior S7 were slow, and it's not an opinion but actual tested fact, go look up some speed tests before coming here and spread misleading information.

        • -1

          @clse945111:

It is true. S series have been the fastest android phone. Many benchmark and performance tests have proved it as a fact. You can't compare iphone which is optimized better than Android and that is why my main phone is iphone.

HTC has not always the fastest android either. Some people have preferred HTC not because of speed, but some people, mostly HTC fanboys, believe HTC has more "premium build" which hasn't always the case.

HTC is basically built upon the hype and HTC people want to feel "special" about themselves.

I was part of that crowd, too. That's why I bought HTC M8. However, it turns out HTC is same as many android. I have experienced slow down and software crash. Many of my friends regret buying HTC, too.

I hear people complaining about "HTC's marketing", but it the actual product is useless people won't buy. The free market has already spoken. HTC has failed and honestly HTC people sound like a sour loser for denying the reality.

        • -2

@motor89: No one can help you if you think that way. It is very hard to pick up a flagship that is slower than Samsung's best offer every year. Do not call others fanboys as you are deadly a fanboy of Samsung.

@clse945111: No S7 is not the fastest, but obviously S7 did not bad in terms of smoothness. However simply play a bit on sony x performance or htc 10 or even iphone 6s and you know the S7 is still got beaten.

        • -1

          @claud0902:

You were called out a fanboy because you basically went on screaming "Nexus is always fastest" when that's not true.

Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, Nexus 5 and Nexus 6

Weren't even close the fastest phones on the market. It basically proves that how utterly you are out of touch with reality and you have no sense of objectivity. Thus it invalidates pretty much all your opinions.

Sure, people still can argue which one was the best based on their biased opinion despite a fact that benchmarks and a volume of sales have proved that Samsung S series has been one of the best androids.

        • -1

@motor89: You are too naive to call your opinion true. Live in your dream.

        • -1

          @claud0902:

More like I live in reality and you live in La La Land where "Nexus is always fastest". Especially, in reality Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, Nexus 5 and Nexus 6 weren't even close to the fastest in their generation. You said I am too naive, but it seems like at least I am more down to earth person than you are, pal :)

        • @claud0902: sound like your pro htc….
Do you have proof of these facts??

        • -1

@Hotkolbas: not HTC, every flagship is faster in general, HTC is just well known of their ui to be closest to stock Android in terms of speed. Sony does well in this field too. Samsung is always known of its lags here and there in their ui. It is getting better in each generation however. That is why touchwiz is always criticized so badly by techies.

i was thinking of S7 which is achievable for around $700 now days

        • I reckon S7 is actually the "best value for money" if you want a flagship phone of 2016 for a reasonable price with some local support.

        • +2

It's available now through DSE/Kogan Ebay deal for $697 delivered (grey import from HK).

    • -2

You mean flagship specs for half the price of Note7?

  • doh i want a phone with body and screen sony z ultra, camera like s7, and price like xiaomi

    • +1

I went from Z Ultra to Mi Max.. Size and speed is great, build quality awesome, and camera is okay.

      • what i want tfrom zultra is that slim wafer, waterproof body… and yes size screen is very important

        • I do miss that waterproof body…I think I may be a little too paranoid around water right now though haha

  • +4

There are so much bad experience using Android Enjoyed in the forums. So it is not really a trusted seller.

  • If it was water resistant, I would buy it.
Ticks all my other requirements though.
    -dual sim
    -6gb memory
    -sd card slot
    -fingerprint scanner
    -nfc
    -camera looks good
    -speakers are good
    -has LTE Band 28

    • What's the point of 6GB of RAM ??

Mobile Apps are designed to be light… so that they can be downloaded quickly, don't really need installing, and not consume much battery.
That's why the iPhone was able to stay competitive for so long with only 512MB of RAM.
And even now, it's still a powerhouse despite its 2GB of RAM.

      • Android OS uses more RAM to help with multitasking.

Comparing the OS and specs is a bit of a stretch as they were both optimised to use hardware differently.

    • Camera is crap
      Software is crap
      No major android updates

      • +1

Software and updates we'll have to wait and find out, who knows if they'll improve for the 3 series. And camera is crap?? Have you seen the photos yet? It's much better than most phones out at the moment and can take on the S7 in most conditions.

      • Camera sensor IMX318 for Zenfone 3 has only been released recently and has not been featured in any phone yet. Where did you get the assessment that the camera is Crap?
Also, Zenfone 3 will have a new UI so again, your comments on that are invalid. As for software, we will have to wait and find out. Asus can't be worse than Samsung which takes 2 years to roll out an OTA.

Had the original zenfone 6. It was good value at the time (under $300) but construction wasn't great, and the (at the time) atom chip was always troublesome. It lasted about 18 months before the digitiser started going crazy. I tried to do a factory reset and bricked it. In the time I owned it, every software update introduced more and more ads to the OS (was using an official ROM). The biggest selling points were the large screen (6") and the price. I probably wouldn't buy another zenfone, and I wouldn't buy one for $700.

My current Xiaomi cost less than $200, and has been less trouble so far.

This. I bought Zonfone 2 for my father because everyone said it is a bargain at that time and the phone turned out to be one of the worst piece of technology I have ever bought for someone that I have known.

Poor build quality(Plastic body fell apart within 3 months)
Software constantly crashed and very slow starting up
Too many Asus bloatware. I mean I don't mind having the company's own software, but the memory management of apps was so poorly designed it slowed down the whole system.
Horrendous Camera - slow camera speed, poor low light performance and overall terrible quality of pictures

The worst of all…poor battery life. It didn't even last one day with full charge.

His new Moto G (3rd gen) which costed roughly same has been much better overall. At least now my father can use the phone for at least one day without carrying a charger with him.

      • I own a Zenfone 2 and I think it's awesome. The battery lasts me between waking up at 6am up until past midnight when it'll be back on charge. I use it to listen to music, read ebooks, and read the news. I don't push it much with games but it does all my dailies like emails and so on well.

The most important thing with the Zenfone 2 is rooting and flashing it. I agree, the stock UI is terrible. I had the same experience with a Lenovo K3 note phone i purchased just before this one.

$750 for an Asus phone, grey import, from a seller with a poor reputation. Hmmm…

Meh, I bought a Asus Zenphone 2 Laser in January and about to junk the thing.

for example about 3 weeks ago, I stopped being able to answer phone calls unless I unlocked my phone and when into the phone app. Worst still, if I'm in an app when I receive a phone call, I have no way to answer the phone. I can't get out of the app while the phone is ringing.

Another example was one day (there wasn't even an update) all my settings reset. I didn't do anything to the phone. I had to reset up the ringtones, layout of the phone, unlock code etc. It was like it was factory reset but left all my apps on my phone.

    Buy something else, anything else.

Edit: Also bought a Sammy S7 for the wife last night for about $700 on the Ebay/DSE/Kogan deal. Much better value IMO.

don't junk it yet, you can still 'save it' by flashing a custom ROM. If you can be bothered to.

    • Zenfone 2 was a fail. The original Zenfone was good and this new one looks great.

  • I'm planning to get this phone, but the thing is…that it's actually not out yet. I'm not sure how Android Enjoyed managed to get stock that isn't even released by Asus.

And for people crapping on Asus phones, this year they've stepped up their game with the zenfone 3 series, the base model zenfone 3 is actually really good (battery life and camera etc). Deluxe isn't officially on sale yet so no one knows.

  • Would Care more about Android Enjoyed than the phone your looking at buying, i don't even think they are worth looking at even though they tend to sell the lowest.

  • I find some of the reviews of zenfone2 written by some ozbargainers surprising. I bought a zenfone 2 64GB 4GB RAM 2.3ghz dual sim phone. Its performance and Zen UI are top notch. With 64 GB internal and additional 128 GB SD card, you just leave the unused stock apps in a forgotten folder and go about your business. The phone is a steal for 400$. The camera takes amazing photos outdoors and decent ones indoor. Try different camera apps if u do not like the asus camera app. I took some amazing pics using the manual mode on the asus camera app.

  • Anything but Zenfone for me. I'm with the majority when I say my ZF2 is trash. It constantly lags on apps and build quality is real poor.

  • I got Asus Zenfone 2 4gb Ram Phone when it was announced from the same website you mentioned, despite the bad reviews of the site I did get my phone sealed and it ran flawlessly and it has been nearly 1 and half year still running awesome I did crack the screen once and the repair cost was under 100$. My problem with the site was that they advertised the model with Intel ATOM processor with 2.5GHz but got the 1.8GHz model. Just to avoid hassle I didn't contact them and used the same model phone was nearly perfect (Coming from the guy who has been using Samsung Galaxy Note series). The other problem was the lack of system updates from Asus it is still running 5.0 Android version. Other than that it was smooth IMHO if you want to spend that much $$$ on the phone get Galaxy Note 5 or maybe Galaxy S7 because it has been running cheap seen many bargains here at OzBargain.

  • Samsung has lot of crap bloatware but i heard asus zenphone is on a whole different level and has the worst out of the box experience with there zen crap stuff. I mean you can root to remove it but i like to keep it original for security, banking n warranty reasons. I am using note 4 and planning to get note 7 which has considerably reduced bloatware now. But yeah hardware wise on par.

  • Great camera
    Lots of RAM
    Fantastic CPU
Led to believe it has NFC< but still never seen it mentioned in any videos/reviews
    Band 28
    Latest bluetooth
    Wireless AC

    So there's really no downside!?!

Actually, yes there is. SIM 2 because 2G "useless" when a 4g/3G data connection is active on SIM 1. Great for single SIM users, or those who like to compromise because designers thought it would be a 'brilliant' idea to sacrifice a SIM if you wanted to add SD storage. Cracking idea fellas…
