Receiving Money without Risk of Reversal - How?

Someone wants to buy an item from me from interstate (a reasonably valuable item). How do I know that payment can't be reversed after postage? Should I get payment to PayPal? To my bank account? Other options? Is there any precautions I should take to stop a reversal of payment? Thanks.

to your bank account. gee paypal is the worst option for you. safest is to tell them to ship cash in the envelope. lol

    • Thanks, ill forget about PayPal then.

You can go with http://auspost.com.au/money-insurance/cash-on-delivery.html and pay for Insurance up to $5000.
You receive a Money Order via AusPost in Settlement.

    • Thanks, sounds like a good option.

  • even if it is a bank transfer, it can still be disputed. Safest option is cash.
    Or uses Auspost cash-on-delivery.
    (Or moneygram/western union).

      Or uses Auspost cash-on-delivery.

this is a bad option. the sender will be out of pocket if the addressee refuses to collect. it's also expensive.

True. But it will be even more expensive if the buyer pays, then disputes the transaction.

    • Thanks is for the suggestion. It sounds at the moment like I should be requesting cash deposit to my bank accouny or if they don't want to do that then tell them other option is cash on delivery which they can pay additional fees.

The best alternative I can think of is paypal, and there is a way to prevent reversal.

Get him to pay via: https://www.paypal.com/au/webapps/mpp/send-money-online
And select "Friends and Family" instead of "Goods and Services".

that's good for not paying a transaction fee. however, there is no seller protection. the buyer can pay with a cc and then proceed with a chargeback.

there is technically no safe way to receive pp payments if a cc was used on the buyer's end.

  • Don't trust Paypal . Very bad experience with them ..Most of their service centres are located at Philippines . Poor English and hard to understand what they say. They are very threatening with their demanding voice.I closed my account with them as there are other means and ways other than they and their pal eBay.

    • …. there are other means and ways other than they and their pal eBay.

      And they would be ?

  • Bitcoin transactions are not reversible.
