I have an LG with smartshare. Pretty good, will natively pick up a media server and has a decent interface

Am I the only one thinking 50hz for refresh rate is very slow?

    • +1

Yeah this is the Basic model if you want the top FHD model you will have to pay $1255 after 10% off

Only 2 HDMI ports is unforgivable.

    • buy a HDMI hub, since we dont need more than one working at same time.

      • Am using HDMI hub, but not that impressed with slow switching. I often need to switch quickly between inputs. Built in HDMI are faster, don't require extra remote.

      • Yeah right, an HDMI hub. An have yet another remote control in the lounge room.

If you're not on a logitech universal, you're not living!

@nzcoops: don't know why you were downvoted. Logitech universal is a lifechanger.

        • @tomski182: They hate us cause they ain't us. But yeah, agreed, lifechanger.

          @nzcoops:
This deal was just about a brand-name TV - with some limiting features which I suggested to be considered before purchase.

There are usually work arounds to solve problems or add features. But should this be necessary with a $1K TV? I've bought a few LG TV a bit cheaper than this & all have far more inputs.

I've had a few good logitech universal remotes over many many years. Great devices. Using it with the HDMI switcher.

But adding a HDMI switcher to solve a design deficiency (lack of adequate inputs) on a $1K tv, then solving 1 of the additional issues introduced by adding that device - by adding more tech at additional expense…

Starts sounding like the children's song of "The old woman who swallowed a fly…"

@Infidel: It's all good. My comment was 100% related to the notion of "yet another remote". Nothing to do with any of your comments at all.

As you said, It's all good. I agree, they're great remotes, especially when using a lot of equipment at same time :-)

…It just seemed discussion was drifting away from the deal into things to solve a lacking TV design. (I never go off topic, lol)

Was interested in this TV until I realised the reasonable price meant some limitations. Was hoping for more discussion of the TV.

          Keep enjoying the remote😯

    • Unusual for a current model name-brand 50+" TV to only have 2 HDMI. I thought it must be old model, but is 2016 but more basic unit.

So why can't you use a 4 port HDMI switch?. I have a One For All 4 port HDMI switch here that i got cheap from the Dick Smith liquidation and seems to work no problems.

      • The DSE branded ones don't work bad too.

      • +3

No one said not to use a HDMI switch. That is not the point. People are free to upgrade to meet their needs. I use such a switch.

It's about the design - it should not be necessary on a $1k larger screen TV to add equipment to bring it up to a reasonable standard. A unit like this is most likely to be used with multiple inputs. Inputs on this unit have been reduced over what is usually found in a brand-name TV of this size. (Although there are some other nice connectivity features I posted above.)

It seems the design has been skimped to bring the unit in at a budget price. (Extra HDMI inputs should cost very little.) That should make people question what else may have been downgraded.

It's something to consider before buying (quickly to get 10% discount ending tonight), since there strangely appear to be no reviews. Can't find other local stores stocking this model. Malaysia & it's neighbours seem to be the main countries selling this model.
