CTENOFF

original coupon code post

With the Phantom 3 Standard, DJI introduces 2.7K ("UHD") aerial video acquisition to the Phantom line. Its dedicated camera is mounted via a 3-axis motorized gimbal that stabilizes the footage and enables manual tilting from a dial on the controller. The control signal operates on 5.8 GHz, plus there is a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi downlink for live 720p video monitoring and app-based control using DJI's free GO app. Thanks to a Wi-Fi range extender, the Wi-Fi boasts a range of 3280' line-of-sight. GPS equipped, the Phantom 3 Standard sports the assisted flying features, such as automatic return home, that have become staples of the Phantom series. Thanks to redesigned, more efficient motors, flight times of up to 25 minutes are possible.

  • I was about to post this but decided to focus on trying to sell my DJI Phantom 3 4K instead. Got it when it was last OzBargained but it was an unjustified purchase. Anyone got an idea what a secondhand DJI Phantom 3 4K can go for?

    • In what condition is it and what is included? Any crashes?

      • Nope no crashes, just a slight scratch from a fall when installing the battery in the second use. Pretty much pristine since it's less than 3 months old. Other user is right though, wrong time to purchase in winter.

        • Right now they are $900 on eBay brand new so i guess you should get around $500 for it.

        • @dosada: Wow, half price straight away? I didn't realize these things lose their value so quickly.

        • @YellowKnight: don't take my word for it, it was just a guess

        • @dosada: oh okay. Thank you though.

        • @YellowKnight: How much are you after?

        • @YellowKnight: Not quite half price. 56%. :) I reckon you could maybe ask a touch more for it though. Doesn't hurt to try anyway, right?

        • -3

@dosada: Around the $750-$800 mark but I have no clue what I'm doing. I'm known for stupid impulsive buys. Hence OzBargain.

        • @ToastySteve: Wow. 56% to me sounds like a very random number.

        • +5

          @YellowKnight:
:-) Ha ha ha, you bought it for $799 and want to sell second hand for $800, wow, that's OzBargain spirit, but I sure will not be buying off you.
You should be a bit reasonable.I think for around $600 mark is the right spot with the new standard now at the same price (in this deal).

        • @YellowKnight: The 56% was referring to dosada's suggestion that you paid $900 for it, so should sell it $500. You stated that it was 50% of the purchase price. I was correcting you, saying it was actually 56% of the purchase price.

I think the takeaway message from your thread here is; don't attempt to sell anything second hand on OzBargain, as everyone knows the cheapest price for every item. Ebay or Gumtree is your best bet, where you can often sell 2nd hand goods for more than you paid for it.

      Already selling it?

Wrong time to purchase it… wait until summer comes and you will use it more often.

  • The Phantom 4 is pretty good too - $1799 minus 10% - cheapest i've seen it

  • Be careful with firmware updates, I guess. Seems to be people reporting that after upgrading firmware, drone can't go further than 50m or have other problems. Pretty disappointing that the advice is to try and leave firmware it comes with (if everything works) and don't update any thing.

      Total BS.

Do you have one to back up this ?

Been updating to latest as soon as it comes out or a week later if anything i have got better range since some other older firmware..

        Quick Google search: http://forum.dji.com/thread-55816-1-1.html

Do you have anything to back up the fact that just because YOU had no problems after upgrading your phantom 3 standard, that every other owner had no issue?

      • +1

My PS3 Standard had this issue when i updated the firmware a month or so ago. I just got it back from the DJI repair centre in Melbourne. If you get this issue - DJI will arrange to pick up your drone and fix it and ship it back within a week. Its not a big deal to be honest

        • Except if it's a grey import, I assume?

Wonder what their "fix" involves. Do they just downgrade firmware or apply a new non-public firmware?

Off-topic but what do you usually shoot with your phantom?

        • @watwatwat: I have about 4hrs on my P3 Adv and I used it to film my sons League game last weekend.
Gave a great top down perspective for the coach. Only had 2 batteries, but it lasted the whole 40mins, with a battery change at 1/2 time.
I have also filmed surfing, boats and the Gold Coast beaches when on holidays.
          LOVE IT !!
Just got a FPV racing drone for excitement.

          @watwatwat:

Yeah i am not sure. I got mine off ebay and i am unsure if its a grey important - but it was still covered by an aus warranty.

          I shoot landscapes etc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvHdaSMwGOA

        • @RRRRRnz: Do you ever get the Phantom out in areas where there are a few people around? If so, has anyone ever got the $hits with you?

        • @mitch21: I don't fly around populated areas. When there are people around they are interested in the drone and want to have a conversation about it.

        • Hey mate, I could not find DJI repair centre contact details, would mind helping me with that ??

        • Also could you pls share the eBay link where you bought your drone from.

          Thank you

  • anyone else get a UK model? going to be sending it back.. mine came and looked like it had been opened too (including the instruction manual (customs wouldn't do this)

    • When did you receive it and how do you know it was the UK version? I didn't know there were different global versions.

And what made you think it had already been opened, I haven't known for DWI to do this.

      • received it today, only realised when i went to put it on charge and its a UK wall adapter, no mention of this is the description, and didn't even supply a AU convention plug (which i would still not be happy with) after realising, i also realised the paperwork was about UK regulations and on the side of the box it says UK model

the box had signs it had been clearly open, with sticky tape over it, some stickers had been restuck, manual box appeared to have been resealed too.. thought it might have just been customs but surely they would not touch the manual box

        • Oh wow, if this is the case then I might have to return my order if I receive it too. Why would you not accept it if they supplied an AU convention plug? Wow, I didn't realize it was the UK version, no mention whatsoever on the box. I don't know what to say. Did you just order the Standard or Pro or Advanced version?

  • @YellowKnight: just because of the two issues combined leaves me feeling a it ripped off, only ordered because if was cheaper than local, if i know the issues with it being opened (wanted to gift it) and UK model (not disclosed) id rather just send the extra $ for a local model (w the bonus of local warranty too) Ordered Standard.

    • Yeah fair enough. I would be salty too. Do you really think it might be a secondhand Phantom? What did they say when you said you wanted to return in?

  • i don't particularly think it's second hand, as somethings are still sealed, but someone has definitely gone through it, and unpackaged things, more than if it was customs i believe. no response so far.. its been 24 hours though

    • Unpackaged things? Makes me scared to open mine up tonight which I just received.

You only have 14 days from purchase to return it. Hopefully mine hasn't been opened.

    • Got mine today. Phantom 3 Advanced. Doesn't seem to have been opened. Made sure to check everything before opening the box. Is UK model but I can live with that as long as an adaptor works.

When you first connect it to the DJI Go app it'll ask you to register if you are the first user.

      • wait.. So you purchased a P3A when you were regretting purchasing a P3S above and wanted to sell it??
