I'm using this phone and my lg g4 at the same time and I can say that the upgrade from G4 to G5 is a no brainer. I know that the G4 is a fast phone but the g5 is even faster. The phone also have a better camera and a brighter screen. Remember if you like the phone vote with your money because if we let LG and HTC die we would end up with Samsung and Apple and all they care about is profit and our high end smartphone would be like +$1500 (the note is already 1350 RRP and I'm sure the next iPhone would be around 1500 for the top end model

    • -5

SAMSUNG NOTE 7 pre order at $1349

    • +3

If LG dies, it would be because of how they treated their customers if there is an warranty issue. They might was well be a Chinese phone manufacturer. I now only trust their TVs and nothing else.

      • +2

Sony is no better in my experience.

      • I've had 2 LG TVs fail on me. One of the reasons that I don't trust them for any electronic device

        • That makes no sense.
I also had one of their tv's fail on me after 5 years. But I just bought an LG laundry machine because they receive the best reviews (in a normal price range).
I have had issues with HTC phones. I have had issues with an LG phone. I have had major software issues with a Sony phone. You can't win….

    • -2

You still have xiaomi, huawei and zte. They offer better quality phones than HTC and LG anyway. I haven't heard any of them suffering teething issues like LG.

      • Yeah, I have Xiaomi Mi5 and LG G5. LG G5 destroys the Mi5 in speed and functionality.

        • That and boot loop too

        • @arctan: my G4 is still working fine. I didn't really need to upgrade. But I did.

    • +3

That's a pretty stupid argument. There are deals for $6xx Galaxy S7 on the front page, $7xx S7 Edges on the front page.

But hey, circlejerk away without looking at reality. Go buy a subpar phone, your money your loss. Tons of other great phones in the midrange price bracket like Xiaomi, Huawei, OnePlus, Oppo, ZTE Axon, Motorola that actually make great phones.

      Also talking about HTC: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/features/phones/htc-10/

NICE $1000 for a 3 month old phone. NICE NICE.

  • +1

Probably just another bootloop phone unfortunately…

  • Don't buy any phone from QD whatever you do.
Trying to return my G4 right now and they are ignoring my contacts.

    • +4

They didn't ignore me, just keep trying because they're flooded with dead G4's.

  • I didn't like the G5, I'm waiting for nexus marlin in September to upgrade

  • Anyone know if the the second sim is 4g/3g/2g?

    • I'm keen to know too. QD told me its 4g+2g, not 4g+3g. Keen for someone first hand to confirm though

  • +4

    Great price for this phone.
Been using my G4 for 4 months now and no issues as others have described. Even bought it on eBay from HK…

After having 3 Samsung phones, I’d definitely say that LG is much better value and easier to use than Samsung. Would definitely buy from LG again.

    • +3

Mine died right after 4/5 months, so be careful, you might lose all your data soon.

    • +1

exact same as you, bought g4 from this seller last nov during the last ebay 20% and have had zero issues with it since, seems we are the lucky few judging from how many dissatisfied people there are on here.

      • same here… reading these comments makes you wonder when its gonna fail..

        • yeah and ive looked into it and it seems tons of people have the issue and its a nightmare trying to get LG to help. Looking at a backup phone might be helpful just in case :S

    • +1

Make sure you backup data like photos and contacts!

  • +2

Good price. Great camera. Reviews mixed.

    12 months warranty means nothing.
Seller does not respond as lg g4 phone broke down 5 months ago. I was stupid enough to buy anotber one from another seller which now broke down too.

Lg does not entertain any ebay purchases and dont even respond. Any suggestions welcome on how to resolve two broken phones.

Not knocking the post but questioning LG product quality and support.

  • +1

I wonder how prevalent the boot loop issues really are for the G5. I know there are some cases, but is this being given excessive attention due to the (genuine) issues with the G4? Like with Sony, there was a problem with the screen shattering, and soon it was assumed every subsequent model suffered from the issue with the same frequency (which wasn't the case).

  • My LG G4 was stolen so I am looking for another one or a LG G5. Is this a good deal? I am rather skeptic about this phone after reading a lot of reviews. I heard that LG offer a free screen replacement if it is not a grey import. Don't they use Gorilla glass for the phone and if so how easy would it be to break? I usually use tempered glass anyway. Thanks in advance :)

    • +1

$500 with 12moths warranty for grey import and Harvey Norman Outright price $1099 with 2 years warranty

      • Thanks for the prices. I'm just going to pull the trigger :)

    • Don't buy from this dishonest seller!
I bought a G4 from this seller late last year (comes with 1 year seller warranty) - Bootloop.
I sent back to the seller 2 months already but no response.

  • Friend wanted to buy LG g5 so I showed him this link. He liked the price but did not want the boot loop issue hassle as he lives overseas and coming here for holidays only. Bought Samsung S6 for 450 after discount.
I loved my LG G3, so is the bootloop issue hardware problem or software issue ?

    • +2

Where did he get the Samsung S6 for $450?

      • ebay, I bought one phone earlier from Ebay Evo Electronics seller. Don't click brand new on left panel and then find using search string. These are new, they open the seal to ensure we don't get dead on arrival. I bought my wife the samsung note 4 from him and so far so good.

        it's 499 so less 49 (10% off)

        http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-Samsung-Galaxy-S6-G920f-Smart…

        There you go

  • G4 currently with Kogan for warranty - Bootloop. I feel naked without it. Using a SGS6 and it just doesn't do it for me.
The G5 looks the goods. The only thing i didn't like about the g4 was it's corners. The G5 with it's larger radius looks a lot better.

  • One thing I will say about LG, they don't push out regular updates. When I first got my G4 LG was good with pushing out the updates, but as soon as marshmallow came out they stopped the updates. I think the last update was in January for my G4. I've heard it was similar with previous G series phones.

    • My Taiwanese G4 has the Google patch 1 June 2016. I've had it for less than 12 months and since then I've received 2 or 3 OTA's. I hope LG will push Android Nougat to it's G4's when its released.

  • +1

I had my first G5 boot loop in the first 2 weeks, now my second G5 is restarting randomly, due to be back to telstra tomorrow, lucky bought it from local telstra, 2 years warranty and get new phone replacement every time

    • First week, so far so good hopefully the phone is in a good manner.

  • Mine is working. Got it as a gift grey import. I suggest, look at warranty for every new phone not just the LG G5

  • Shame about this phone. G3 was awesome. This just sucks. A Lego phone. Pass.

    • I don't know about you, but when I build Lego with my son I don't make it so that it can easily break. I would suggest it's more of a non-name blocks phone. Bits don't fit right. Design looks like a near miss.

I wish there were other alternatives with removable battery. And now they're coming for the damn audio plugs.

  • +2

Any better way to spend $500 today? Try to resist, hoping QD will sell out soon so I can miss out ;)

    Edit:

Bought it, luckily missus was understanding :P

  • Don't buy from this dishonest seller ever!
I bought a G4 from this seller late last year (Comes with 1 year seller warranty) - Bootloop.
I sent back to the seller 2 months already and received no response.

    • +1

Patience my friend as there are millions of G4 bootloops happening all over the world and it takes time for them to be fixed. I expect yours to be returned to you within 2 weeks.

  • Why can you be sure about it?
The seller told me that my phone has been sent to LG Taiwan but they refused to repair my phone for me!
Then I called LG in Taiwan and their designated service provider and provided my phone's IMEI, no one ever received my phone at all!

    • +1

Chase the issue back with QD. Their eBay feedback is 99.8% which is difficult to achieve if you are dishonest.

The issues are most likely with LG, their phones have issues and the retailers get the bad rep.

I bought one just now and I am not worried. At least I have 6 month PayPal "warranty" :)

      • +1

Don't be fooled by illusion of Paypal buyer protection.

My G4 bricked after marshmallow OTA and boot looped. No response from qd for weeks.

Raised and escalated one Paypal claim.

Paypal declined the claim citing it's seller protection is not a warranty service.

        Hardware faults are not covered.

Qd has the worst customer service from my experience.

        • Yeah I agree with you that you cannot consider that as warranty, but I have all but good experiences with QD and I believe the delays are caused by LG.

Of course it is not ok not to answer to eBay messages for weeks but as the profits are slim to none sellers has to cut somewhere.

        • @datafellows: Good luck. I hope you're the only exemption that receive good customer service from this seller.
For my case, I have called LG in Australia, Taiwan and the designated LG service provider as well. None of them ever received my phone in their repair centre.

  • +1

I abandoned the lg ship and bought oneplus 3

    • +1

If only The One plus3 had some more 4g Bands :/

  • +1

Don't buy LG phones. They have bootloop, ghost touch problems. My nexus 4 was dead because of the bootloop problem. My LG G4 purchased from Quality Deals was dead because of the bootloop and it took almost 2 months to get it repaired by claiming warranty via Quality Deals. After I've get the repaired phone, it was starting a new ghost touch problem. Never buy another LG phone again.

  • +3

I bought one phone from them. While claiming the warranty, i realized its not worth it.
It took me 3 months in total to start the claiming process and eventually getting back the phone in hands.
I will think 100 times before buying it from this seller.

    • I don't understand and get why my negative vote have many negs & revoked, perhaps too many neg-er are ignorant.
I couldnt agree more with you

      • +2

Well, some people probably think that if you save ~40% off the "local" price, that hassle with warranty is probably worth the price. Of course the G4 situation was unfortunate (and no doubt resulted in delays due to the sheer quantity of returns), but usually the chance of having to actually use the warranty is less (percentage wise) than the discount you get.

  • +1

My experience is different to most of you. I got my QD AU G4 dated 0505 zero issues. Fully rooted, Xposed, got all my modules installed. Great piece of kit. Takes photos better than iPhone and S7 IMO.

Not considering upgrade to G5, don't see what features worth the price especially no more back buttons.

Much cheaper at the time compare to other flagships. I told myself will never ever buy another android more than $500 since that's just how much it's meant to be

Mind you I had it since June 2015 G4, and did not update to marshmallow.

  • Anyone else getting Error code 70049 when trying to checkout and pay?

  • +1

    QD_AU gives a toss
    LG gives a toss
I toss LG from now on.

I got the same from Sony when my phone kept crashing when the camera was on. Also grey import. They refused to help, even if the problem was global and affected all Xperia phones. That is not specific to LG. But when saving ~40%, I'll chance it. I consider myself self-insured for grey imports. So far I'm ahead (touch wood).

      • Which Xperia is it?
Do you think your Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro Prime is a good replacement?
Just wondering what's the difference between 3 Pro vs 3 Pro PRIME. I don't think there is a difference at all

        • I had an Xperia Z1. Literally 5 minutes out of the box, the camera crashed on me. Each time it did so, the problem would get worse until you cleared its cache (meaning you had to reset all its settings too). I lost many good shots due to the crashes. It happened on Z1's up to Z3's. Google Xperia Camera Crash. Sony did even try to help me once I told them it was grey import, even if people all over the world complained. The problem got less after some software updates, but those software updates cause other issues, including major battery drain (Google Xperia Battery Lollipop). I had to unlock the bootloader and manually flash with clean Sony ROM's to fix it. I spent days solving this. What I'm trying to say is that every phone has its issues, and barely any vendors care about grey imports.

I love my Redmi Note 3 Pro Prime. Got it from this seller, who puts on a clean global ROM. Performance is great, screen much nicer than the Sony, and it all "just works". Camera not as good in low-light, but for ~$225…. (minus cashback).
The "PRO" means it has the snapdragon 650 CPU (which is way better than the non-Pro Mediatek), and the Prime means it has 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM (vs. non-prime which is 2GB/16GB). So yes, big difference.

  • Is QD better than T-Dimension? because T-Dimension is slightly cheaper, $484.11 after discount

  • I've had this phone for just over a month and haven't had any issues with it yet. Good price for the phone.

  • Just share my experience on the warranty claim process and the LG G4. First 9 months no problem, then dead because of the bootloop. Next 2 months for warrany claim and repair. Got the phone back but with ghost touch problem. Next 1 month doing some investigation by myself and attempting to start another warranty claim process. QD told me that your phone is out of warranty now by a few days.

The phone has been only used for 9 months in total.

  • I got mine today. My phone seems to lag a little and Boost (Telstra) is in between H+ and 3G. Do I need to factory reset it in regards to the phone slowness? Thanks in advance :)

    • HI, I suggest you check for any updates OTA and once you have updated then reset the phone to factory settings.

  • My 29/09/15 QD-AU bought LG G4 just developed the dreaded boot loop issue tonight.
It just froze and then got stuck on the LG logo screen.
Removing the battery and inserting it just opens immediately to the LG logo.
Have contacted QD-AU, now joining the queue of everyone else

Any info on factory resetting the phone (wipe personal details) befor sending it back?
