This is more of a PSA than anything because I know that nothing can be done without video evidence. (Or is there?)
Went to Gold Car Wash in Alexandria yesterday who scraped the front of my car after the wash, and denied all responsibility. They told me I could come back tomorrow to view the security tapes (because the manager had left for the day) and refused to provide me the manager's contact details. He never called, of course.
I know for a fact that they did it because the paint was still flaking off - if it had been an old scratch, the wash would have buffed it out.
Also, I suspect the scrape occurred when they drove my car outside of the car wash and into the pick up zone next door - where there are no cameras pointed. (Not that they would show any evidence of them damaging my car, anyway.)
I called the next day (today) and requested to speak to the manager. Guy who answered was very rude and kept pressing for more details until he finally handed the phone over. I politely asked, "Who am I speaking to?" but the "manager" refused to provide his name. He asked why I wanted his name, and continued to ignore the question before he hung up - before I had even mentioned the damage. How dodgy is that?
The moral of the story is probably to buy a dashcam.
Oh, and on top of that, they stole the $1 I had from inside my car. Talk about petty.
It has an abysmal 2.2 stars on Google reviews. I make a note of checking reviews when going to new businesses because they really do have weight.
