Hey guys, just got a TV which doesn't have smart TV. Wanting to watch Netflix on it and wondering what is the best HDMI stick to do it. Can't really be bothered with Chromecast since it'll have to play on my laptop/mobile phone at the same time. I've found quite a few android TV sticks and boxes. Not sure which one is the best for my needs. Only need quality at 1080p.

Saw a few of these which say they offer all these channels i can stream for free. Are they legit?
The phone\laptop play for a Chromecast is only controlling the contents the video will only play on the Chromecast device
Most of the time Chromecast how it works is remote device is just sending the Chromecast a link to play the file. it's one of the easiest ways to play videos on a non Smart TV ozbargins had a Deal on them for 33 bucks the other day.
I would stay away from most of them China boxes very limited support from Netflix maybe Checkout Xbox One, ps4 or Apple TV
As Anthrox said, you just use your phone to choose content and play it on the chromecast. All the playing is done on the chromecast. You can turn your phone off if you want and it will continue to play.
Alternatively look at getting an Amazon FireTV Stick. Not that much more expensive than a Chromecast, but has a remote control

No it won't. Like Anthrox says it's basically sending the Chromecast a link to play the file.
Don't bother with Chromecast. It's a bad user experience if you want to pause, fast forward or rewind. The phone/tablet tends to disconnect from the Chromecast so you end up trying to reconnect to it at the most inopportune times.
If you want to risk a Chinese box, get a Windows-based one. You'll get better future support and Netflix HD.
Been looking up the chinese boxes which seem like they'd suit my needs well. My tv is only 720p so full HD streaming of it isn't too necessary. Anyone know the best one i can get for around $80 shipped?
