Can I Get A Refund If There Is A Price Change ?

I might be talking out of my ass here, but I think I remember some people claiming refund for an item they bought, because there was a price change after they bought the item… Is this true? Is this actually allowed?

Recently (like a week ago), I bought an item from eglobaldigitalcameras, and I bought the phone at slightly discounted price with extra discount, but I had to pay full price for the delivery fee.

However, today I got an email offer from them saying that shipping fee during this weekend for any purchase above $150 is free, is this something I can ask for refund for?

Again, these are probably dumb questions, but at least I wanna know how this works, or if this case is even true in the first place.

Only if you have a credit card that has price protection as a feature.
Australian Consumer Law does not cover price changes.

Eglobal is a grey importer, so definitely not covered by ACL anyway.

Not really, this is like trying to combine two promotions (that may have run consecutively in different time periods), and claiming that both should apply to you.

Ahhh so that's the reason? I see, thanks!

  • I remember doing it at The Good Guys, and they refunded the difference.

You can ask what ever you want, if they do refund you, it's out of good will, not because you're legally entitled to it.

  • It is worth putting the email out there and see if they will bite. The answer is probably no, but you don't get what you don't ask for.

For card price protection there has to be a significant difference in price; I think it is roughly $75.
