Note the XL models won't fit in the fridge door.

    • Which fridge model?

        • Now I'm tempted to buy one just to show it will fit in the fridge door.

only a problem if you like refrigerated water. I prefer room temperature

      • What about during the warmer months?

        • We have a smaller/thinner model Brita jug that we put in the fridge in the hotter months, but our XL model sits out on the bench all year round (although we do move it to a cooler part of the room during summer) and we've never had any problems. It's important to remember to take the jug apart and wash it regularly with warm soapy water to avoid any mould or algae forming - I wash ours once a week in summer and probably every 2-3 weeks the rest of the year.

        • @SimbaGirl: I agree about mould etc. but wash weekly? How often do you change the filter? Because if you need to wash the jug weekly, wouldn't you need to change the filter weekly too, as that too could harbour mould etc?

        • @peck: No need to change the filter when washing the jug, you just pull the filter out, put it to one side on a paper towel and then put it back in again until it's due to be changed. Have been using one of these jugs for about 5-6 years and have never had any problems with filters showing any indication of developing mould etc.

If I had ANY container of water (filtered or not) sitting in a warm environment i.e. room temperature in summer, I'd wash it out regularly as it can be at risk of growing mould or algae or whatever, depending on the water quality in the area (and ours is pretty cr*p to start with, filtration can only do so much!). Even if that's not a concern, I find if the jugs aren't washed out regularly - especially in the warmer weather - they tend to develop a bit of a "swampy" smell (probably the best way to describe it) which is either from the water, the container or a combination of both. The smell's definitely not coming from the filter, and disappears once the jug is washed out and refilled.

        • @SimbaGirl: Thanks :)

        • @SimbaGirl:
I run mine through the dishwasher.. loves it.

        • @Ripped: I wish!!! :). The only dishwasher we have is a manual one LOL.

  • Do they have these instore generally?

  • Just back from Myer Hornsby. The woman scanned the Jug for $29.95 then filter. The final price came as $36.95.
She said you have to choose either the jug discount or free filter. There were quite a few people in the queue behind me so just had to pay for free filter.
Do you guys encounter the same?

    • Hi I just been to Eastgardens and they have said the same thing. I think Myer's website is $29.95 including the jug and 2 filters. Try that and do a store collection to save delivery fee.
