Was trying to find a new deal for myself since my contract is nearly up and found this while browsing.

Unlimited calls to 10 international countries too

Not as good as the Optus 15gb deal but pretty good if you absolutely want Telstra

for an extra $5 you can get a sim for data share

    https://www.telstra.com.au/latest-offers/upgrade-plan-XL-100

Invite only, but worth talking to the reps if you really want it. Note this link is for personal, not business customers

    • what is it? whenever I click I get a "you are not eligible" pop up and it navigates away

      • +2

Same deal as OP, $90/month for 20GB

      • +1

I got the same pop up, but tried again after I logged in to my account and the page appear correctly.

        • ah yes worked after logging in, explains why on this service I got a text message asking me to visit a store to upgrade for massive data and they would waive costs, if the text had mentioned $90 and 20gb I would have actually looked into it

    • Anyone without an invite able to get this (including the waving of all fees and charges)?

I got this offer too and I am a business customer.

My contract ends in November but I am really interested in the Note7, I am waiting out the plans from other providers for the Note7 before I take the plunge into another contract.

For those that take up this offer and want to re-contract on a handset plan, you will need to wait until September 1st and to also get the bonus $100. If the Note7 is released this month then I assume any preorder bonuses like a 256gb card may not be on offer anymore come September 1st.

  • who else pays $90/month ?????

    • Generally not without a handset included but 20gb on Telstra is enticing

  • +2

For those who got this offer targeted it is actually worth signing up for as it'll waive all your device/remaining plan fees, then you can switch over to another BYO after that if you wish without any fees just a recontact.

I decided to go with it until the next iPhone launch and see what I wanted to do.

    • yeah just had a rep online confirm this

    • So, to apply this logic; I have an LG G4 and have a device buyout of ~$475, more than what I can sell it for, but I intend on re-contracting for the Samsung Note7 anyway; If i take up this offer now, I can re-contract again in a few days for the Note 7 that I already intend on recontacting for, but not have to worry about the device buyout of the LG G4? Is that correct?

      • Yep - but only if you get the invite.

        • Fair point, just read that note: *This is an invitation only offer and the eligibility of each submission will be verified

Might be worth a try still, someone might slip through the net. lol

        • +1

@matthewk85: Think im going to have to give it a try on the Telstra Chat! Or ring the retention team and get them to swap me over to it…. We can only try!

          @Spewdog:

          My thoughts exactly

        • @Spewdog: Let me know if it works. My attempts on Live chat lead nowhere (well they offered to waive the ETC but not the remaining phone payments).

        • @lolcoaster: Yeah I was having a chat with Telstra yesterday actually, and they were able to waive ETC but not handset payments, but if this is an offer will see what happens…

        • @Spewdog: Which is kinda pointless because waiving the ETC is pretty standard if you recontract. Hell, when the were having their network issues, the were willing to waive the ETC then.

        • @lolcoaster:

This is what you get if you fill in the details of the form linked by Spackbase:

Winning! Your order has been sent

Your order will take 3-7 days to process.

Once complete, you'lll receive a confirmation SMS and email from us and you can start enjoying your new data allowance immediately.

Time will tell, I'm not overly hopeful though.

        • @matthewk85: Anyone can apply and sign up for the plan, its just that only those who are invited can have their ETC and phone repayments waived.

Lets see if you get charged anything.

        • @lolcoaster:

I'm probably the perfect candidate to try as I was going to be up for a device buy out when I upgraded anyway. lol
Will post back when/if I hear anything back.

        • @lolcoaster: Yeah if you recontract they will pretty much always waive the ETC, but handset payments need to be payed off….
I cant see them waiving my year worth of handset payments….

        • @Spewdog: That's what I would assume too, but the wording on the site is pretty ambiguous: "And if you’re still in contract, we’ll waive any remaining costs so you can switch straight away."

It's the "any remaining costs" that I specifically noticed. I'm interested to see how this goes… lol

        • @matthewk85:Getting no help from Telstra chat… they are saying its invite and the email with have the link
Unsure if I want to try the "upgrade now" and fill out the details, incase my contract gets cancelled and I'm up for a payout!!

        • @Spewdog: Lol, I'll reply back when/if I hear anything from them. I'm of the assumption the application will just be rejected.

        • @matthewk85: hmm.. im on a business plan and this is personal from waht I have been told so dont think I can move to it from what they have told me…
Have just filled it in and will see what happens also….

        • @Spewdog:

Mine went through, confirmed that 20gb has been added. Spoke to live chat (sales and livechat.telstra.com) and they have confirmed fee's to be waived.

        • @Dilbery123:

          Two questions:
          1. Did you have an invite?
          2. Did you have a current mobile repayment option that was waived?

        • @matthewk85:
I may have had an invite, not certain I found my email address Telstra had was going to my old work emails, So I dont have access to check.
And yes I have a current mobile repayment option that was waived.
          Telstra Rep:
Thank you for patiently waiting, upon checking the account since you took the promotion the early termination charge does not apply
and just in case it shows up on your bill all you need to do is to contact us to have it adjusted

A mate of mine has done it, and he definitely doesn't have the invite so stay tuned (Though he did his after mine and mines been done already)
That being said it does say:
"This is an invitation only offer and the eligibility of each submission will be verified"
I'd just do it and find out, the page was telling me I was ineligable until I logged into my telstra account too.

        • @Dilbery123: yeah, I applied this afternoon. Didn't see the harm in trying.
How long ago did you apply?

        • @matthewk85:

          Bit before 1pm

EDIT: Confirmed my mates went through…

        • @Spewdog: well I just got upgraded to 20gb data, so it went through. Just need to confirm what the go is with fees, might hit up live chat tomorrow.

        • @matthewk85: nice one. Good to hear you guys got the deal!
I have a feeling mine might go pear shaped since I'm on business and not personal account. Let's cross fingers!!

@Spewdog: If it does, see kunfushun's post above, he's provided a link for the business offer: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/3902076/redir

@Spewdog: OK, so I contacted Telstra Live Chat this morning; by signing up for this offer, the device buy out becomes payable, in full. I did however manage to get them to limit the device buy out to what I would've paid had I continued my previous contract, being 13 months x $10 MRO. So rather than paying $474, I now only need to pay back $130. With the $100 credit when I recontract, or if I upgrade to the Note7 and receive the bonus 256gb card, it will cost me virtually nothing. All in all, I'm ahead of where I would've been as I can sell the current phone for more than what it'll cost me to payout my contract now. =D

        • @matthewk85: nice one. Spewing they didn't payout the mro.
You got a good deal in the end though.

        • @Spewdog:

I spoke to a rep on the phone today, she said the ETC/handset fee's are on my account. However I have had a rep add a note to the account yesterday to say these fee's will be waived which is going to be honored. I did point out the statement that each submission will be independently verified and how that obviously hasn't happened.

She told me this promotion works if you're within the last 6 months of your contract.

        • @Dilbery123:

She told me this promotion works if you're within the last 6 months of your contract.

Lol, I still had 13 months on mine and it went through fine, as did my partners.

        • @matthewk85:

It will go through fine as did mine as its an online order, I guess only time will tell re: the fee's. (I was around the same, I think October was when I recontracted)

        • @matthewk85: What's your MRO before the discount they give you?

Mine is $44 but there's a $40 discount so I'm "only paying" $4 per month.

        • @lolcoaster: I had a $36 MRO with a Device Plan Discount of $26.00. Hence why they're still going to charge me the $130 ($10 x 13 weeks contract remaining).

        • @matthewk85: well received a text this morning saying to contact live chat with a reference number. Will see what eventuates

        • @Spewdog: How'd you get on with Telstra in the end?

I managed to re-contract for an S7 edge this morning (changed my mind on the Note7) and got the 10Gb Large plan (+1Gb bonus) for the price of the Small 1Gb plan by discussing with the onlinelive disconnections team my dissatisfaction about the offered plans against competitors prices and my intention to payout my contract and transfer my number. Overall an massive win situation for me.

        • @matthewk85: nice work
Well I contacted live chat as requested and ended up in circles.
Consultant just talking me to wait to hear from Telstra as my plan will be updated soon, but I insisted I'm only contacting Telstra because I was advised to by SMS.
Finally the consultant looked at my reference number and said somehow my service number wasn't in the application.
They entered it and then advised that the mobile repayment would not be payed out.
I pointed them in the direction of the offer webpage and then they said it does say on there it will be payed so to wait for 5-7 days and I should have the plan changed over.
That was the last I heard…

For existing customers still think $50 for 14GB (or 15GB if you push with Unlimited T&T is a better deal.. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/259574#comment-3893182

      Wow well done!

    • +1

Would've been good if I saw this earlier haha, but doesn't matter chances are i'll be re-contracting on the next iPhone with Telstra. And if you got the $90 BYO targeted you'll get $100 off your next mobile.

  • No invite, used the linked and got approved on $90/20GB personnel.

Winning! Your order has been sent
Your order will take 3-7 days to process.

Once complete, you'll receive a confirmation SMS and email from us and you can start enjoying your new data allowance immediately.

Am 6 month to the end of my contract+handset. All fees waived.

    • No invite either.

2 services upgraded with all fees waived. About 13 months left on both contracts.

  • i got this as well.. 12 month contract though.. my plan ends in august i think.. waiting for the next iphone7 to seee what it is like before i commit?

  • I just went through the motions and got this one for $80 and 2 other services on the $40 mx deal with data share for all services, $160 credit and first month free. was for personal mobile not business. 12mnth contract. pretty happy

  • My Business order went through just rang, had 9 months of my $90 unlimited calls 7gb plan with a 6 plus all waived, still paying $90 but with 20gb and free calls to NZ, my son is moving there next year, also cancelled a 5gb data pack i had on my account for $15, won't need that. Gotta love data sharing.
    Thanks OP

  • whats the best way for a non telstra customer to get this? sign up a month to month then go on live chat straight away? prob wont work i suppose.

    • Are you applying as a Business Customer? If yes, just ring up your nearest Telstra Business Centre and speak to a Solutions Consultant. I'm sure the consultant will be able to help you. My application was taken up by a consultant and constantly keep in touch with me on the progress.

      • Ah thanks, sorry i totally misread. I thought this was for old customers only.

        Thanks mate!
