Hi I am about to buy my graphic card from amazon, My question to anyone awake to hear it is what the hell is buying and selling currency. I plan to buy EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 8GB FTW GAMING for $477.99 USD which includes shipping but want to know whether to let my bank handle the currency conversion or just amazon's converter. If it helps I have a bankwest debit mastercard, I checked out bankwests foriegn exchange tool but I am confused whether I am buying or selling currency which for whatever reason seems to give me a $48 difference.

In regards to the foreign exchange tool, if you let the bank do the conversion you will be using AUD to buy $477.99 USD.
So set the tool to buy and it will display how much AUD is required :)
Pay in USD from Amazon
Use no currency conversion fee card like Garetz mentioned.
Citbank Visa Debit
OR
28Degrees MastercardSeems like you are not yet setup to minimize currency conversion rates/ fees from financial institutions.
Look into it; helpful for all purchases in currencies other than AUD
You are neither buying or selling currency, you are buying a product which will have a currency conversion attachment, the cheapest way is to use a credit card which has no currency conversion fees like 28 degrees, the currency exchange rate you have no control over.
btw, amazons currency converters is one of the worst exchange rates you can get besides paypal currency conversion.
